Through the power of the blessings of the Sage of the Shakyas, one should cultivate the six perfections (pāramitā) by means of the three circles being completely pure. In this way, one should also understand the roots of virtue that are in accordance with liberation through twelve aspects. Similarly, one should combine the path of joining, the path of seeing, the ordinary path of meditation, and its special path, as well as the stages up to the Buddha's ground. Furthermore, first, regarding the method of oral instructions that includes the differentiation of what is grasped, it is heard by pleasing the virtuous friend, so it is not appropriate for me to write it here. Therefore, bodhisattvas, in order to perfect your own accumulations, please delight the virtuous friend and take the essence. In this way, is it not contradictory to the sutras such as the one that teaches the previous vows of the Noble Akshobhya, and the teachings that one should give the Dharma without differentiating sentient beings? If someone asks, "There, the limbs such as pleasing the virtuous friend are not explained," then, it is reasonable for the virtuous friend to show the completely pure mind. Because in the sutras such as the chapter on the Noble Transcendent One, it is said that teaching the Dharma with attachment to material gain is offering the work to the demon. From the perspective of the bodhisattva who is listening, the bodhisattva should always be respectful, and in order to please the virtuous friend, the bodhisattva, the supreme of Dharma, one should follow the example of completely giving up one's own flesh, blood, and bones. Therefore, here I will briefly describe the manner of listening to and speaking the Dharma. A bodhisattva who is listening to the Dharma should possess the nature of ten qualities, as it is said: "O sons of the conquerors, these ten are the ways in which a bodhisattva completely seeks the Dharma. What are the ten? They are: (1) seeking the Dharma with a sincere mind, without deceit or pretense; (2) seeking the Dharma with diligence and perseverance, without laziness; (3) seeking the Dharma without regard for body and life; (4) not seeking gain, respect, or fame.

not for the sake of oneself. To seek the Dharma in order to dispel the afflictions of all beings, not for the sake of benefiting only oneself. To seek the Dharma for the benefit of oneself, others, and all beings, not to decide with the radiance of the Dharma. To seek the Dharma in order to enter wisdom, not to be pleased with understanding and debate, but to seek the Dharma in order to rely completely. Because one has not abandoned the mind of enlightenment, to seek the Dharma for the sake of loving all sentient beings, to seek the Dharma in order to be free from drowsiness, to cut off the doubts of all sentient beings, because there is no arrogance or desire. To seek the Dharma in order to perfect the Buddha's teachings, and so on. When seeking the Dharma completely in this way, one should draw near to the virtuous friend, the speaker of the Dharma, with ten kinds of intention. These are the ten kinds of intention that are spoken of: O son of the Buddhas, bodhisattvas, whoever generates the unsurpassed, perfectly complete mind of enlightenment, should also serve, respect, and honor virtuous friends in order to perfectly awaken to the omniscient wisdom. When he serves, respects, and honors virtuous friends, he should generate these ten kinds of intention towards virtuous friends. What are the ten? They are: such a mind of service, a mind of joy, a mind of diligence as instructed, a mind that cannot be overcome, a mind that does not think anything about various reproaches and all cycles of existence, a mind of single-minded determination, a mind that makes everything into a single lineage with virtuous roots, a mind of the same aspiration, a mind of guidance, and a mind of perfecting the same conduct. O sons of the Buddhas, these ten are the intentions generated by the listeners towards the virtuous friends. When these ten intentions are generated, one will attain ten kinds of complete purification, and so on. Therefore, in the Mother of the Conquerors Sutra, it says: The speaker of the Dharma and the listener
