It has been shown that benefiting sentient beings is achieved by being completely separated from attachment and the like. It refutes the notion that merely thinking "May all sentient beings be happy" is sufficient. It is the meaning of actually accomplishing things in accordance with understanding what to accept and reject, and in accordance with further understanding, which are the four activities. The term "self-interest" means that one has not separated from being manifestly attached to one's own benefit. The term "well distinguished by the purity of the three spheres" refers to what was previously stated: "Those who are skilled in truly accomplishing the unconditioned generosity, etc., understand all aspects of this, and consider it to be in accordance with the aspect of liberation." These are what were taught. The characteristics of self and other's benefit, such as abandoning killing, abandoning taking what is not given, abandoning sexual misconduct, abandoning lying, abandoning harsh speech, abandoning divisive speech, and abandoning harmful thoughts, are all included in benefiting others because they abandon harming others. Abandoning idle talk, abandoning covetousness, and abandoning wrong views are included in benefiting oneself because they abandon harming oneself. Alternatively, the term "self and other's benefit" means that it is not merely for one's own benefit like the Hearers, because it is not dedicated to Buddhahood, but for the benefit of both. The path of Buddhahood means that although many paths and branches of the path have been taught for attaining Buddhahood, the most important of these are these ten virtues, and that is why it is said. The path of the ten virtuous actions means that these are virtuous because their results are beautiful and pleasing. The three of body, the four of speech, and the three of mind are the ten. The path of action means that action is thought, as it is said: "It does not remain in another instant, and the mind without a doer, by whom does it appear to act as if with a doer? That thought is the action of the mind." In this way, action is thought, and thought is governed by abandoning covetousness, abandoning harmful thoughts, and abandoning wrong views, and enters their path, so the path of action is those. The remaining seven, such as killing, are both action and thought, and first arouse and generate these, and then rely on and enter these, so they are also the path of action. That

It is said that in front of Vasubandhu, in the verses of the Abhidharmakosha, it says, "Three or seven are also karma." And the definition of karma is: "That is thought and what is done by it, thought is the karma of the mind, and what is born from it is the karma of body and speech." Then, "Habituating to the emptiness of all phenomena by nature" means that it is only habituated by the power of faith and attention, and it is not the substance, because in the Joyful Land and so on, it is established as attending to suchness. After that, "Relying on the perfection of generosity" means that generosity is the supreme of the karma of merit, and in order to fulfill the wishes of the mind that has accumulated great merit, generosity is the cause of the non-duality of the nature of the Dharma Realm that pervades all in the first ground, that is, the meaning of combining with it. Accumulations are the two, merit and wisdom, of the first ground. "That becomes the cause of perfection" means that although residing on the special accumulation of the Joyful Land, it is still not perfect, so in order to perfect them, in the second ground and so on, all the dharmas of the perfections such as discipline are perfected, and at that time, it is also known that they are nominally established, not in the way of regarding them as objects of observation. "Likewise" means only relying on nominal establishment. "The characteristic of not manifestly clinging to the reality of the knower and the known, all dharmas are without object" means that because of the complete transformation of the mind of the grasper and the grasped, these appear without distinction as the various aspects of the Dharma Realm, and this becomes a definite understanding. Thus, in order to know, since there is no distinction between self and other, it is seen from the perspective of self-interest, thereby ripening sentient beings, and since there is no manifest clinging, that which possesses wisdom and activity is the power of the perfection of means. Among them, the ripening of sentient beings means obtaining warmth and so on, just as fruit ripens and is unripe, it can be used, this is the prophecy made by my guru. Thus, it is also taught in the Ornament of the Sutras.
