This is about the differences in meditation. It goes differently until cessation. What is said is that, in the same way, with the order of accordance and non-accordance, cessation is manifested and pervaded, and going in a non-sequential way is said to be the path of meditation here, and it should be understood. The meaning of the verse is that Bodhisattvas and others are mentioned, starting from the first dhyana until cessation, from the phrase "desire is unwholesome," approaching from the mind distracted by the conceptualization of the desire realm, and then manifesting the first dhyana with the mind belonging to the form realm, until reaching cessation, just like that, the second, third, and fourth dhyanas are also like that. And: The formless realm has no place, there are four kinds of birth places. What is said is the mind of the formless realm, namely space, consciousness, nothingness, and neither perception nor non-perception. After that is cessation. In the same way, proceeding in order, what is said is that after that, starting from cessation and going up to the first dhyana, usually practicing in a non-accordant way, reaching up to the first dhyana, reaching the nine successive absorptions with cessation, etc., this is what is said. The order spoken of in this way, with the two orders of accordance and non-accordance, reaching the four dhyanas, the four formless absorptions, and the nine successive absorptions characterized by cessation, starting from the first dhyana, reaching up to cessation is accordance, and starting from cessation, reaching up to the first dhyana is non-accordance, this is the summary. Again, like that, abandoning two, etc., what is said is "after reaching," etc., after reaching is like that, the place first reached. Again, etc., is like that, the order spoken of, abandoning one, etc., is abandoning one, two, three, etc. Reaching cessation in different ways is the practice of

The gradual practice and the dissimilar transcendental samadhi are the distinctions of meditation that diminish afflictions and their predispositions. The characteristic of having power is the nature of controlling the mind, and bodhisattvas manifest it by donning armor for the benefit of beings, so it is the path of cultivation. Because one has power over the mind in all samadhis, and enters as desired like a great king, it should be known that the dissimilar practice is the samadhi of the lion's leap, and the excellent ones are only the excellent path, so this transcendental samadhi is only for bodhisattvas of the lineage, and not for others. As it is said: The eight grounds are connected in two ways, One transcends, having passed and come again, With dissimilar aspects, It becomes the third transcendental samadhi. The transcendental samadhi spoken of here is not relevant here. Having thus spoken of the path of cultivation, the abandonment of it, saying what is abandoned by the path of cultivation, the reason is that the four kinds of conceptualizations spoken of below should be included in the path of cultivation. The first, among the four, is the conceptualization of the object to be abandoned, the first, namely, the brief explanation and so on. The meaning made into words, namely, the brief explanation and so on, is for those who are pleased with brevity and elaboration, knowing by the beginning and detailed explanation, those who are free from faults such as the mouth facing down, the two kinds of conceptualizations, namely, the brief explanation and so on, are shown by the teachings. The meaning of what has been said, namely, generosity and so on, those who are not diligent, namely, those who do not practice, what is indicated by the Buddhas, namely, what should be the protector, that which is not embraced and not made one's own, is another conceptualization of that. Arising and ceasing, namely, all afflictions arise, and are naturally extinguished, so the characteristic of being separated from the qualities of the path of cultivation, namely, non-existence, is mutually contradictory.

You consider that for one thing, it is unreasonable to have two natures of arising and will arise, because there is no nature or a nature beyond two natures, because it is self-destructive, and the future does not exist in its own nature. The so-called "not possessing the cause of true arising" is because afflictions and the like do not possess true arising. The so-called "seeing" and so on, is because the afflictions and the like that arise later do not exist in their own nature. The so-called "future" and so on, is to enter the three paths in order to cut off the three kinds of afflictions, and afflictions and the like do not actually exist, because there is no object, then how can entering the third path become the merit of the three times? The so-called "these are three kinds of discrimination" is the general meaning, this is explaining "the three times have no merit." If there is a view of self and so on, then there is the path of Nirvana and so on, because there is no view of self and so on, so there is no path of removal, this is inversion and so on, inversion and tranquility and so on are the paths of cultivating the view of self and so on as the meaning of Nirvana. In this regard, obtaining the wisdom of no-self by realizing emptiness is the path of seeing. The so-called "with the nature of no self-nature" is because there is no self-nature, so there is no cultivation and so on, it is the path of cultivation. The so-called "with three kinds of discrimination, the good path has three kinds," this is explaining, the good path has three kinds, this is the summary. The so-called "and" is جمع. The so-called "here" is because it must be cut off, so in the situation where it must be controlled, because it must be completely cut off, so the path of cultivation, the previously mentioned application path, that is, the first difference of the object that the mind and mental factors of the path of cultivation enter uninterruptedly, that is, the nine aspects grasped by its object are the discriminations of the Dharma and so on that should be taken and abandoned accordingly. Because all discriminations must be cut off, so it is said "thus the first" and so on. The meaning of the verse is good.
