That is, the first difference of the object of focus in the continuous arising of mind and mental factors. Its nine aspects of the object of focus are the aspects of taking and abandoning the collection of Dharma, etc., as appropriate. Since all conceptualizations should be abandoned, it is said that "the first" and so on. The meaning of the verses is to mention virtuous friends, etc., because without virtuous friends, etc., there is no showing of true oral instructions and faith, etc., so the mind of enlightenment does not arise. With the purity of the three circles, the merit of focusing on the Buddha is called enlightenment by focusing, so it is the essence, or not paying attention to the time of directly realizing it, which is no object of focus. The Hearers, etc., because they are of the lineage of Hearers and Solitary Buddhas, there is hope of realizing the fruit of the path. Prajñāpāramitā is what has been said before. Those who do not practice it, because they are separated from practice, do not pay attention to true enlightenment, that is, they do not focus on the perfect Buddha. Because of having an object of focus, focusing on what is taken, etc., is focusing on the form, etc., that is cultivated. Because of having no object of focus, it is said that not focusing on what is taken, etc., is not focusing on form, etc. Because there is neither an object of focus nor a non-object of focus, it is said that there is no cultivation of focusing and not focusing, nor is it non-cultivation, that is, not focusing and focusing on form, etc. Because of clinging to perversion, it is said to cling to what is taken, etc. Because of the meaning of not being as it is, it is said to be perverted. That time should be abandoned, that is, at the time of being able to be free, it should be especially abandoned. The previously mentioned mind and mental factors of the path of cultivation are special consciousnesses, feelings, etc. The time of their arising is any difference that constantly arises, and its object of focus is that.

It is called "that which is to be grasped," and so on. The meaning of the verses on "grasping," and so on, is the statement of "existing as substance," and so on. The term "not born as substance" means that it is not reasonable to be born as truly existent. The imputation as sentient beings is the terminology for individuals, and so on. The term "merely appearing" means that external objects are not permissible, and because it is the very nature of sentient beings, the imputation as phenomena is the terminology for forms, and so on. The term "going to all" means that because it does not abide anywhere, it is not reasonable to exist, therefore, the emptiness of all those qualities of the three, such as the omniscient one, which are the arising of the mind, and so on, is not truly existent. The term "not abandoning attachment to all appearances" means that attachment to grasping, and so on, is not prevented in all ways. Attachment to phenomena is manifest attachment to forms, and so on. The term "understanding the absence of inherent existence" means that by knowing that forms, and so on, do not exist, one should understand the excellent discrimination of phenomena, which is the classification of forms, and so on. The term "not acting for a purpose" means that because one does not focus on the three types of purpose mentioned earlier, one acts for the purpose of things, that is, one focuses on showing the meaning of the nature of inner and outer. The term "because one does not focus on forms, and so on" means that because one does not know forms, and so on, without grasping, and so on, the three vehicles certainly arise, that is, one directly realizes the fruit of omniscience. The term "not truly entering" means that because one does not directly know without grasping, and so on, it is an impure quality, that is, one does not purify the objects, and so on, given by the disciples, and so on. The term "meditating by focusing on giving, and so on" means that the behavior is confused by the knowledge that focuses on objects such as meditation, objects of thought, and both, that is, manifest attachment to activities such as giving, and so on. The term "as before" means that because of inverted manifest attachment, it is not the true meaning, therefore, it is to be abandoned in this situation, so it is said to be called grasping, and so on. The term "sentient being"
