The so-called "because it exists" is the thought of the debater. The so-called "because it is impossible to achieve perfect habit," even if one studies with respect, continuously, and for a long time, one should not fully engage, because becoming accustomed to non-existence is like a human horn that cannot become a rabbit's horn. Therefore, the so-called "not doing anything at all," the path of meditation is incapable of doing anything. In any case, if it is impossible to have distinctions, then it cannot be the practitioner himself. Therefore, for the sake of those of inferior intelligence, all the paths that exist conventionally, as cause-and-effect entities, and for those who do not understand the ultimate limit, to dispel their doubts, "things" and so on are mentioned. The explanation of the meaning of the verses is "the nature of reality" and so on. Because of the emptiness of inherent existence, in reality, it is neither that, nor this, neither both, nor neither; neither different, nor non-different, neither both, nor neither, it is inexpressible, so one cannot hear and so on. So, is this conventional, or is it not? "The nature of reality's own nature" is mentioned. In reality, it is the nature of non-dual wisdom. Because of these differences in causes, therefore, because it is the nature of non-dual wisdom, it is inexpressible, which is the nature of the path that is manifestly desired. The previously mentioned path of meditation, because it is inexpressible, is not truly existent like persons and so on. Therefore, through the so-called path of meditation, the previously mentioned opposing sides and antidotes that are inconsistent with the cause cannot be separated and produced in order. The so-called "because it is impossible to achieve perfect meditation," in reality, because there is no path of meditation, it is impossible to achieve perfect meditation. Therefore, "therefore" and so on are mentioned. For the path of meditation that is spoken of conventionally, one is able to hear and so on, but in ultimate truth it is not so, so "because it is not so" and so on are mentioned.

It is true that even if there is no practice, there is still true practice, and through the function of its meaning, afflictions are eliminated, and the characteristic of generating Bodhi does not exist. However, even so, in the conventional truth of a yogi, since there are things and so on, there is practice. Therefore, since the path of cultivating Bodhi as it is is perfected, and since afflictions are adventitious, there is no fault as previously stated. Therefore, it is understood that even when the so-called antidote arises, it does not cease. The author of the Pramāṇavārttika also said, "Therefore, it is neither true nor untrue. When one cultivates anything intensely, when the power of cultivation is perfected, that clear non-conceptual wisdom is the result." This is what is said. Therefore, hearing and cultivating the Prajñāpāramitā are indeed meaningful. The Ornament of the Sutras says, "If one can see the meaning by merely hearing, then cultivation becomes meaningless. If one can enter cultivation without hearing, then reliance becomes meaningless." Therefore, since one has discrimination, one should strive to hear, contemplate, and cultivate. In the manner of "If one does not accomplish, one cannot accomplish anything," if cultivation is not accomplished, will Bodhi not be accomplished? How does it accomplish the function of its meaning? Because one has such an idea, in order to dispel the doubt of not having Bodhi in the first half, it is said, "Even so," and so on. One should analyze it in this way: For the time being, Bodhi arises from the mind that has become prior and subsequent. For it, is each prior and subsequent mind, or many minds gathered simultaneously, or the mind that arises gradually, the cause of Bodhi? There are these three ways of examining. The first case is that it is unreasonable to say that each one attains Bodhi. Why? Because for each prior and subsequent mind, the Bodhi of the Buddha, that is, the non-conceptual wisdom, and all meanings such as omniscience, which are what was previously said, do not appear. Because it is impossible for one mind to have multiple objects. This is his thought. The second case is clear: even many minds cannot attain Bodhi.
