Through the means of increase, completely dedicating, in order to increase merit, just as it is, accomplishing the desired meaning that appears in the conventional, that is the word of completely dedicating in that way. By meditating in that way, through the means of being free from sudden defilements. This manifest path has the nature of being like an illusion. Although there is nothing special to be accomplished, how can one be separated from the unfavorable and favorable aspects in the conventional, and accomplish the work of meaning in the order of arising, in that way it should be established. As it is said: How is enlightenment, just like that, this accomplishes the desired meaning. In order to widely show this meaning, therefore, it is said "Furthermore, Subhuti," etc., five explanations. Asking what is the nature of enlightenment? The answer is: Blessed One, what is this called unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment? This is the beginning of that. This is suchness, meaning that this is the very nature of suchness. As it is said: Enlightenment, suchness is the nature, that is also established as its nature. Subhuti, suchness has no increase or decrease, enlightenment and the path are also like that, because it is their nature, this is the remaining part. In that way, the cause and the result, or the result and the cause, mutually follow their nature, therefore the relationship of cause and effect will become an inverted statement. Also, speaking by showing the power of the path in the conventional, that is "If a Bodhisattva," etc. Having such mindfulness, that is what is known as the path of meditation. Constantly abiding in many, that is said in two ways by the difference of application and conclusion. At the time of the main practice, because it is its very nature, it is unreasonable to abide. In that way, that is in such a way. Summarizing, that is Subhuti, in that way, "Bodhisattva," etc., is proclaimed, the so-called unspeakable meaning, that is meditation.

It is the path to quiescence. The explanation of the Prajñāpāramitā, from the Light of the Abhisamayālaṅkāra, is called the "Chapter on Emptiness," which is the eighteenth chapter. Furthermore, fearing that one might think that even in the relative, one cannot accomplish benefit through generating the mind of special appearance, to welcome this doubt, the question is asked, "Bhagavan, again..." etc. Because for each mind that occurs successively, one cannot see all the meanings of accomplishing the enlightenment of the Buddha, such as omniscient knowledge, etc. Therefore, the first mind that is generated, or each of the later minds, is not what causes the Bodhisattva to manifestly realize complete enlightenment, this is its summary. It is said in the scriptures that sentient beings are each a stream of consciousness, because it is impossible, therefore, in order to show that this aspect of manifestly realizing complete enlightenment by many moments of mind that appear as Dharma, which accomplish the desired meaning, is also reasonable, so the question is asked: "Bhagavan, the initial generation of the mind..." etc. The so-called "not associating" is because the former and latter minds abide and arise in order, without following in order, so there is no mutual explanation, therefore there is no encounter. The so-called "how" is because there is no connection, so the mind that appears as a special benefit does not arise, therefore the roots of virtue, etc., will not become close, etc., therefore it is thought that one will not manifestly realize complete, unsurpassed, perfect enlightenment. Because one does not wish the previously spoken aspect to appear, therefore, in order to answer the later aspect with a very famous analogy, it is said, "What do you think about this..." etc. The so-called "sesame oil lamp" is a lamp. The so-called "initial contact" is contact with the first moment. Because they each have no power, so it is answered, "It is not so." In order to make it clearer, so the question is asked, "Bhagavan, the initial flame..." etc. Because the first moment when the flame and wick meet is no different from those that come in succession from one's own causal lineage meeting and arising simultaneously, so there is no second moment, cause and effect.
