It is so. Then how should this be abandoned? Because of the emptiness of self-nature, it is said. Because it is free from the fault of accepting things as real, therefore, because of the emptiness of self-nature, I prostrate. Because the Prajnaparamita is proclaimed, then, if it is thought that it is not empty of all dharmas, the Blessed One said, "Subhuti, all dharmas are," and so on. Because it is the nature of self-awareness, therefore, for all dharmas are empty, because there is no realization as the nature of self-awareness, then, how is the nature of self-awareness the Prajnaparamita? To such doubts, welcome with "Why cling?" and said, "Thus, Subhuti," and so on. It is said thus, when external objects are not completely established, so like dreams, etc., with fresh differences, appearing in various ways, in the nature of completely dispelling like external objects, consciousness arises, therefore, wisdom understands in a conventional way, like an illusion, because of being non-different from it, all dharmas are unmade, empty and like an illusion, because the Blessed One has attained perfect and complete enlightenment. It is also understood that those are emptiness, as it is said in the Holy Lankavatara Sutra: All things arise in conventional truth, In ultimate truth, there is no self-nature, Therefore all this is true, In ultimate truth, it is not true. This is said following what was said. In order to clarify the suchness of the meaning immediately past, the Blessed One said, "Therefore, it is like this," and so on. To attain perfect and complete enlightenment in suchness is the unfinished part. Establishing the doctrine by the good saying itself, it is said, "Subhuti, thus," and so on. What is the nature like? It is said, "Whatever is the nature," and so on. Nature is the essence or suchness, whatever is like that, is without self-nature because it is separated from the essence. Whatever is without self-nature, that is the nature of all dharmas, for example, because there is no self-nature, that is, because of the essence, it becomes the same essence, the same nature.

That is the meaning of "for what reason." To summarize this, it is what the Blessed One said, "Subhuti, therefore," and so on. Aren't things different in nature because they are produced by different causes? Why would one think that they are the same in nature? Welcoming this doubt with "Why is there this doubt?", the Blessed One spoke of "Subhuti, the nature of phenomena," and so on. Thinking in his heart, because the nature of the arising of these things is determined by measurement, therefore the nature of many things associated with different causes of production does not exist, and the various natures of these things are not the ultimate truth, therefore their nature is the same. Subhuti, thus, and so on. In the order as spoken, all phenomena such as form are only of one nature, that is, knowing that it is without self-nature, and fully understanding that the knower and the known are equal in one taste, one will be able to abandon the attachment arising from the nature of the subtle attachment mentioned earlier. It is also said: "Phenomena are of one nature, by this one can abandon attachment." Thus it is said. How is the previously mentioned Dharma profound in nature? As asked: "Blessed One, is the Prajnaparamita profound?" This is an indirect question, meaning how is it profound? Space is profound, because it eliminates all objects of consciousness, and shows the equality of knowledge and the known by having no object of focus, therefore it is said that its nature is difficult to realize, so it is as profound as space. It is also said: "By preventing seeing and so on, it is said to be difficult to realize." Thus it is said. Again, what is the reason why its nature is so difficult to realize? "Blessed One, is the Prajnaparamita pleasing to follow and realize?" Here too, the question is asked indirectly as before. No one attains complete enlightenment, because the nature from form and so on up to the unmixed qualities of the Buddha is the nature of suchness.
