Wishing for perfect and complete enlightenment, one should speak in brief and extensive ways, as stated in the sutras. This is what was said. The detailed classifications are as follows: For Bodhisattvas, the first arising of the mind, endowed with aspiration, is like the earth, because all dharmas manifest in every way, being the basis for the growth of the accumulation of perfect and complete enlightenment. Secondly, being endowed with intention is like pure gold, because the intention of benefiting and bringing happiness in this life and future lives, as indicated by the six perfections, will not change until perfect and complete enlightenment. Because of abiding, it is called intention. Thirdly, being endowed with higher intention is like the waxing moon on the first day of the white side, because all virtuous days will increase more and more. Because it is higher intention. These three are summarized by the small, medium, and great, the first karmic practitioner's accumulation path. Fourthly, being endowed with application is like fire, because the application of the three omniscient ones, like fire becoming special with other wood, will increase more and more, because it is a supreme application, therefore it is called supreme application. This is summarized by the path of application entering the first ground, and is related to the ground of practice with faith. Fifthly, being endowed with the perfection of generosity is like a great treasure, because with inexhaustible enjoyment, in various ways, it truly satisfies limitless beings, and there is no end. Sixthly, being endowed with the perfection of discipline is like the source of jewels, because by the nature of the support, all qualities and jewels arise from it. Seventhly, being endowed with the perfection of patience is like the great ocean, because it is not disturbed by all unpleasant things that befall it. Eighthly, being endowed with the perfection of diligence is like a vajra, because unwavering faith does not waver. Ninthly, being endowed with the perfection of concentration,
