Desire for enlightenment. That and that are spoken of as in the sutras, through the doors of brevity and expansion. Thus it is said. Among them, the various distinctions of that are these. Among them, the first mind generation of bodhisattvas, possessing aspiration, is like the earth, because it becomes the basis for increasing the accumulation of complete enlightenment in all aspects of all dharmas. The second, possessing thought, is like fine gold, because the thought of benefit and happiness in this life and the next, as shown by the six perfections, does not change until perfect enlightenment. Because it abides, it is in the manner of being called thought. The third, possessing higher thought, is like the waxing moon of the white side, because all auspicious days increase from above. It is in the manner of being called higher thought. These three are included in the stage of accumulation for beginners, with the nature of small, medium, and large. The fourth, possessing application, is like fire, because the application of the three knowledges goes from above, just as fire becomes special with other wood, because it is a supreme application, in the manner of being called extreme application. This is included in the path of application for entering the first stage, and is related to the stage of practice by faith. The fifth, possessing the perfection of generosity, is like a great treasure, because it truly satisfies limitless sentient beings in all aspects with inexhaustible enjoyment, but there is no end. The sixth, possessing the perfection of moral discipline, is like a source of jewels, because all qualities and jewels arise from it by the nature of the basis. The seventh, possessing the perfection of patience, is like the great ocean, because it is not disturbed by all unpleasant things that befall it. The eighth, possessing the perfection of diligence, is like a vajra, because faith is firm and unbreakable. The ninth, possessing the perfection of meditation, is like the king of mountains.

For example, because the mind is distracted by focusing on the object, it is unable to act in all aspects. Tenth, possessing prajñāpāramitā is like a great medicine, because it completely pacifies all the diseases of afflictions and cognitive obscurations. Eleventh, possessing upāyapāramitā is like a virtuous friend, because it never abandons the benefit of sentient beings in all circumstances. Twelfth, possessing praṇidhānapāramitā is like a wish-fulfilling jewel, because it accomplishes the desired result as wished. Thirteenth, possessing balapāramitā is like the sun, because it fully ripens the crops of those to be tamed. Fourteenth, possessing jñānapāramitā is like a nāga proclaiming beautiful sounds, because it teaches the Dharma that makes those to be tamed aspire to it. These ten are sequentially included in the ten bhūmis, such as the Joyful One, and are the objects of practice on the paths of seeing and meditation. Fifteenth, possessing abhijñā is like a great king, because he accomplishes the benefit of others without obstruction. Sixteenth, possessing the accumulations of merit and wisdom is like a treasury, because it is a treasure of many accumulations of merit and wisdom. Seventeenth, possessing the thirty-seven dharmas conducive to enlightenment is like a great path, because all noble beings have gone and followed this path. Eighteenth, possessing śamatha and vipaśyanā is like a vehicle, because it travels on the path of union, and therefore does not fall into either saṃsāra or nirvāṇa, thus proceeding easily. Nineteenth, possessing dhāraṇī and eloquence is like adorned water, because it can hold water in various ways and flow out inexhaustibly, similarly, it can hold and teach the Dharma that has been heard and not heard, and can proclaim it without end. These five are included in the special path of the bodhisattva bhūmi. Twentieth, possessing the joyous feast of Dharma is like beautiful music, which makes those to be tamed who desire liberation

This is to make it clear to everyone. This is related to the Bodhisattva grounds and is included in the practice path of entering the Buddha grounds. The twenty-first, which has the path of one vehicle, is like the continuation of a river, because it realizes the equality of the knowable and the known, and the continuation of great compassion and skillful means and wisdom is not interrupted, but only to do the benefit of other beings. This is the stage of obtaining the position of reality included in the Buddha ground. The twenty-second, which has the Dharmakaya, is like a great cloud, because it universally shows the emanation body residing in Tushita and other places, and all the benefits of sentient beings depend on it. This is also because the Tathagata asked from the master of non-discrimination, and the emanations that are fully observed by the subdued are the objects. It is the Buddha ground included after obtaining the pure worldly wisdom. Thus, it starts from the ground of the first karmic person and is included between the Buddha grounds. Therefore, in the order of understanding the meaning, as it is said, these orders and extremely fine distinctions are these, neither superfluous nor lacking. There is also no other order to be shown, so it is shown. In this way, the classification of gradually generating Bodhicitta is divided into twenty-two types, from the perspective of contemplation, in any case, Bodhisattva Mahasattva Prajnaparamita, all three are called and so on, and connected as before. It is said: Earth, gold, moon, fire, treasure and the source of jewels, ocean, vajra, mountain, medicine, good knowledge, wish-fulfilling jewel, sun, song, king, treasury and great road, riding, adorned water and, musical instrument, river, clouds, there are twenty-two kinds of appearances. It is said like this. This must be the distinction between the ordinary Bodhisattva and the Tathagata ground, and it should be known that it is a distinction with the nature of cause and effect. Just as it is said in the Ornament of Sutras: The generation of mind is the grounds, aspiration and superior intention are pure, and the fruition is thought to be different.
