Completes all. Through the perfection of meditative concentration, Śrāvakas and Pratyekabuddhas transcend karma. Subhūti inquired: "Bhagavan, how does a Bodhisattva-Mahāsattva perfect the perfection of meditative concentration and transcend the karma of Śrāvakas and Pratyekabuddhas?" The Bhagavan replied: "Subhūti, it is like this: a Bodhisattva-Mahāsattva should thoroughly train in inner emptiness, outer emptiness, inner-outer emptiness, and even the emptiness of the essence of non-things. Regarding these emptinesses, neither the fruit of stream-enterer, nor the fruit of once-returner, nor the fruit of non-returner, nor Arhatship, nor solitary enlightenment, should one cling to any such dharma to abide in. Even that which is called all-knowingness is emptied by these emptinesses. Through these emptinesses, the Bodhisattva-Mahāsattva transcends the realm of Śrāvakas and Pratyekabuddhas and enters the faultless state of a Bodhisattva." Inquired: "Bhagavan, what are the faults of a Bodhisattva-Mahāsattva? What is faultless?" The Bhagavan replied: "Subhūti, all clinging is the fault of a Bodhisattva-Mahāsattva. All non-clinging is faultless." Inquired: "Bhagavan, what is clinging? What is non-clinging?" The Bhagavan replied: "Subhūti, form is the clinging of a Bodhisattva-Mahāsattva. Subhūti, feeling, perception, formations, and consciousness are the clinging of a Bodhisattva-Mahāsattva. Eye and form are the clinging of a Bodhisattva-Mahāsattva. Ear and sound, nose and smell, tongue and taste, body and touch, mind and dharma are the clinging of a Bodhisattva-Mahāsattva. Eye-consciousness, eye-contact, and the feeling born of eye-contact are clinging. So are ear, nose, tongue, body, and mind."

The nature of consciousness, and the contact arising from the union of mind, and the feeling arising from the condition of the contact arising from the union of mind, are the objects of focus. The element of earth, the element of water, the element of fire, the element of wind, the element of space, the element of consciousness, are the objects of focus. Ignorance, formations, consciousness, name and form, the six sense sources, contact, feeling, craving, grasping, existence, birth, old age and death, are the objects of focus. All the perfections, all of emptiness, all the dharmas of the aspects of enlightenment, the noble truths, the meditations, the immeasurables, the formless absorptions, the eight liberations, the nine successive abidings, emptiness, signlessness, wishlessness, the superknowledges, the samadhis, the gateways of dharani, the ten powers of the Thus-Gone One, the four fearlessnesses, the four analytical knowledges, great love, great compassion, the eighteen unshared qualities of a Buddha, are the objects of focus. Up to all-knowingness is the object of focus, which is a fault. Subhuti, faultlessness is that for whom form, feeling, perception, formations, consciousness, as well as the six sense sources, elements, dependent origination, all the perfections, all of emptiness, all the dharmas of the aspects of enlightenment, the noble truths, the meditations, the immeasurables, the formless absorptions, the eight liberations, the nine successive abidings, emptiness, signlessness, wishlessness, the superknowledges, the samadhis, the gateways of dharani, the ten powers of the Thus-Gone One, the four fearlessnesses, the four analytical knowledges, great love, great compassion, the eighteen unshared qualities of a Buddha, up to all-knowingness, and even the things spoken of by these dharmas, are also without an object of focus. Why is that? Subhuti.

Furthermore, just like this, form has no intrinsic nature. Whatever has no intrinsic nature is inexpressible. Feeling, perception, mental formations, and consciousness have no intrinsic nature. Whatever has no intrinsic nature is inexpressible. The six sense sources, the eighteen elements, and dependent origination have no intrinsic nature. Whatever has no intrinsic nature is inexpressible. All the perfections, all emptinesses, and the dharmas of the path to enlightenment have no intrinsic nature. Whatever has no intrinsic nature is inexpressible. The noble truths, the meditations, the immeasurables, the formless absorptions, the eight liberations, the nine sequential abidings, emptiness, signlessness, wishlessness, the superknowledges, the samadhis, and the gateways of dharani have no intrinsic nature. Whatever has no intrinsic nature is inexpressible. The ten powers of the Tathagata, the four fearlessnesses, the four analytical knowledges, great love, great compassion, and the eighteen unshared qualities of a Buddha have no intrinsic nature. Whatever has no intrinsic nature is inexpressible. Even up to all-knowingness, there is no intrinsic nature. Whatever has no intrinsic nature is inexpressible. Subhuti, this Bodhisattva-Mahasattva is without fault. A Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who has entered into faultlessness, who perfects all samadhis and attainments, even if he is not born from the power of samadhi and attainment, how could he be born from desire, hatred, or delusion and abide in them? And how could he create (karma) in them, and having created that karma, fall into the cycle of the five destinies? Needless to say, this is impossible. On the other hand, he abides in dharmas that are like illusions and benefits all sentient beings, but he has no attachment to sentient beings or illusions. Because he does not cling to sentient beings and illusions, he can fully ripen sentient beings and completely take hold of the Buddha-fields. Subhuti, in this way, the Bo
