What then? The Great Brahma? Or to be born equal to the gods of Akanistha? Or to obtain the fruit of stream-entry? Or the fruit of once-returning? Or the fruit of non-returning? Or Arhatship itself? Or solitary enlightenment? There is no supreme adherence to that discipline, thinking, 'I shall attain enlightenment.' Why is that? It is because all dharmas are without characteristics. Thus, since it is characterized by the characteristic of the nature of non-existence, a dharma without characteristics cannot attain a dharma without characteristics. A dharma with different characteristics cannot attain a dharma with different characteristics. A dharma with different characteristics or without characteristics also cannot attain a dharma with different characteristics or without characteristics. Subhuti, thus, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, practicing the Perfection of Wisdom, having completely perfected the Perfection of Discipline, which is without characteristics, enters the Bodhisattva path without fault. When a Bodhisattva enters without fault, he obtains acceptance of the non-arising of dharmas. When practicing even a small aspect of the path, having fully obtained the five superknowledges arising from maturation, abiding in five hundred doors of dharani and five hundred doors of samadhi, having obtained the four analytical knowledges, he attends to and honors the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, and goes from Buddha-field to Buddha-field, and also brings beings to maturity, and completely takes hold of Buddha-fields. Although he revolves in the cycle of the five destinies, he is not stained by the ripening of the karma of samsara. For example, a manifestation performs going, coming, staying, sitting, or lying down, but going, coming, staying, sitting, or lying down is not observed in it. It also performs the benefit of sentient beings, but sentient beings and the designation of sentient beings are also not observed. Sixty-fifth fascicle. Subhuti, for example, the Tathagata, the Arhat, the Perfectly Awakened One, called the Utterly Peaceful One, having manifestly and completely awakened to unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment, turns the wheel of the Dharma.

Having circumambulated, he completely passed into nirvana countless sentient beings through the two vehicles, yet he did not see any Bodhisattva who was to be prophesied to unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment, so he abandoned the formations of life and manifested manifestations, and completely passed into nirvana in the realm of nirvana without remainder of aggregates. Subhuti, in this way, that manifestation, after one kalpa had passed, then a Bodhisattva Mahasattva was prophesied to unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment, and became completely passed into nirvana. Of that one who has become completely passed into nirvana, neither form, nor feeling, nor perception, nor formation, nor consciousness, nor any object is perceived. Subhuti, likewise, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva does not perceive sentient beings or the designation of sentient beings, yet he also does the benefit of sentient beings. Subhuti, thus, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, he perfects the Perfection of Discipline that is without characteristics. By perfecting that, he knows that he has comprehended all dharmas that are without characteristics. Subhuti, furthermore, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, he abides in the five aggregates of grasping that are like a dream, like an echo, like an optical illusion, like a magic trick, like a mirage, like a manifestation, and thus he perfects the Perfection of Patience that is without characteristics. Subhuti asked: Blessed One, how does a Bodhisattva Mahasattva abide in the five aggregates of grasping that are without characteristics, and thus perfect the Perfection of Patience? The Blessed One replied: Subhuti, here, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva perfects the Perfection of Patience through two kinds of patience. What are the two? They are the Patience of Practice and the Patience of Comprehending Dharmas. What is the Patience of Practice? It is from the first arising of the mind, having taken hold, until abiding at the Bodhi tree.
