Subhuti, this is the path of a Bodhisattva. By abiding in this path, all perfections are completely fulfilled. Having completely fulfilled the perfections, one will attain omniscience with the wisdom that possesses a single instant. At that time, all the connecting afflictions of its habitual tendencies will also be completely abandoned by not arising, which is called wrong discrimination towards the nature of the object of focus. Therefore, when observing the realm of the three-thousand great-thousand world systems with the Buddha's eye, if even the absence of things is not perceived, what need is there to mention seeing the presence of things? Subhuti, when a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, they give alms completely. Even when giving alms completely in this way, they do not make discriminations, nor do they contemplate whether things exist or do not exist. When receiving, they also do not make discriminations, nor do they contemplate whether things exist or do not exist. When giving away, they also do not make discriminations, nor do they contemplate whether things exist or do not exist. They do not fixate on the mind of enlightenment, do not make it an object, do not make it a focus, and do not see it correctly. When practicing the Perfection of Wisdom, they maintain moral discipline, cultivate patience, exert effort, practice meditation, and cultivate wisdom. Even when cultivating wisdom in this way, they do not make discriminations, nor do they contemplate whether things exist or do not exist. They also do not make discriminations about the wisdom they are cultivating, nor do they contemplate whether things exist or do not exist. They also do not make discriminations about the beings for whom they are cultivating that wisdom, nor do they contemplate whether things exist or do not exist. From inner emptiness to the emptiness of the nature of non-things, as well as the mindfulness, the right abandonments, the miraculous feet, the faculties, the powers, the branches of enlightenment, the eightfold noble path, the noble truths, the meditations, the immeasurables, and the formless attainments.

Entering into absorption and liberation, as well as the successive abidings in equipoise, emptiness, signlessness, wishlessness, clairvoyance, samadhi, the gateways of dharani, the powers of the Thus-Gone One, fearlessness, individual perfect knowledge, unmixed qualities of a Buddha, and up to the state of all-knowingness, one does not make any discriminating signs of all-knowingness itself, nor does one think of it as something existent or non-existent. Even up to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, one does not make any discriminating signs, nor does one think of it as something existent or non-existent. Regarding who attains perfect and complete enlightenment, who should attain perfect and complete enlightenment, and who attains perfect and complete enlightenment through what, one does not make any discriminating signs, nor does one think of it as something existent or non-existent. Why is that? Because all phenomena are by nature devoid of substance; they are not made by the Buddhas, nor are they made by the solitary realizers and the hearers. All phenomena are without a maker, separate from a maker. Subhuti asked: "Venerable Lord, is it thus that phenomena are separate from phenomena themselves?" The Lord replied: "Subhuti, it is so. It is so. Subhuti, phenomena are separate from phenomena themselves." He asked: "Venerable Lord, if it is thus that phenomena are separate from phenomena themselves, how can one fully know whether a phenomenon has substance in relation to a phenomenon, or whether it does not have substance? Venerable Lord, a phenomenon without substance cannot fully know a phenomenon without substance, nor can a phenomenon with substance fully know a phenomenon with substance. A phenomenon without substance cannot know a phenomenon with substance. A phenomenon with substance cannot know a phenomenon without substance. Thus, since there is no fully knowing of all phenomena, how could a Bodhisattva Mahasattva even think of something as having substance or not having substance?
