The Samadhi Without Obstruction. The Samadhi Without Obstruction. I beseech the Bhagavan Bodhisattva Mahasattva, who possesses the first arising of mind, for the sake of all sentient beings, to attain the unsurpassed, perfectly complete, and fully enlightened Buddhahood. How much will their merit increase? The Bhagavan said: Rabjor, if all the sentient beings in the three thousand great thousand world realms were to abide in the ground of the Hearers, and abide in the ground of the Solitary Buddhas, would the merit of those sentient beings increase greatly? I beseech you, Bhagavan, it would be great. Sugata, it would be great. Bhagavan, it would be immeasurable. Sugata, it would be immeasurable. The Bhagavan said: Rabjor, the merit of all sentient beings in the three thousand great thousand world realms becoming Hearers or Solitary Buddhas, compared to the merit of a Bodhisattva Mahasattva possessing the first arising of mind, the accumulation of merit of a Bodhisattva possessing the first arising of mind, the merit of all sentient beings in the three thousand great thousand world realms becoming Hearers or Solitary Buddhas, would not even approach one in a hundred parts. It would not approach one in a thousand parts, one in a hundred thousand parts, one in a koti parts, one in a hundred koti parts, one in a thousand koti parts, one in a hundred thousand koti parts, or one in a hundred thousand trillion koti parts. It cannot be tolerated in number, part, calculation, example, or cause. Why is that? Because those who arise from Bodhisattvas are the Hearers and Solitary Buddhas. Those who arise from Hearers and Solitary Buddhas are not Bodhisattva Mahasattvas. Let alone all the sentient beings in the three thousand great thousand world realms becoming Hearers or Solitary Buddhas. Even if all those sentient beings in the three thousand great thousand world realms possessed the qualities of Hearers, their merit

Even one part in a hundred of the merit of a Bodhisattva's first arising of the mind is unattainable. It is unattainable even by a part in a thousand, a part in a hundred thousand, or a part in a hundred thousand kotis. It is unbearable even in simile and cause. Why is that? Because the qualities of the Hearers and Solitary Buddhas arise from the Bodhisattva, but the Bodhisattva Mahasattvas do not arise from the qualities of the Hearers and Solitary Buddhas. Let alone all the sentient beings in the three-thousand great thousand world systems possessing the qualities of Hearers or possessing the qualities of Solitary Buddhas. Even if all those sentient beings in the three-thousand great thousand world systems were to abide in the White-Seeing Ground, their merit would not approach even one part in a hundred of the merit of a Bodhisattva Mahasattva's first arising of the mind.

Not to mention abiding on the ground. If all the sentient beings of the three thousand great thousand worlds were to abide on the eighth ground, their merit would not even come close to one hundredth part of the merit of a Bodhisattva who first generates the mind of enlightenment. Not even close to one thousandth part, one hundred thousandth part, or even one billion trillionth part. The analogy and the cause cannot be tolerated either. Why is that? Because the Bodhisattvas arise from the eighth ground, but the Bodhisattvas, the great beings, do not arise from the eighth ground. Not to mention that all the sentient beings of the three thousand great thousand worlds abide on the eighth ground. If all the sentient beings of the three thousand great thousand worlds were to abide on the ground of seeing, their merit would not even come close to one hundredth part of the merit of a Bodhisattva who first generates the mind of enlightenment. Not even close to one thousandth part, one hundred thousandth part, or even one billion trillionth part. The analogy and the cause cannot be tolerated either. Why is that? Because the Bodhisattvas arise from the ground of seeing, but the Bodhisattvas, the great beings, do not arise from the ground of seeing. Not to mention that all the sentient beings of the three thousand great thousand worlds abide on the ground of seeing. If all the sentient beings of the three thousand great thousand worlds were to abide on the thinned ground, their merit would not even come close to one hundredth part of the merit of a Bodhisattva who first generates the mind of enlightenment. Not even close to one thousandth part, one hundred thousandth part, or even one billion trillionth part. The analogy and the cause cannot be tolerated either. Why is that? Because the Bodhisattvas arise from those who abide on the thinned ground, but the Bodhisattvas do not arise from the thinned ground.
