And if the limbs of enlightenment, and the eightfold noble path are not apprehended, what need to mention meditating on the eightfold noble path? If the noble truths, and the meditations, and the immeasurables, and the formless absorptions are not apprehended, what need to mention meditating on the formless absorptions? If the liberations, and the absorptions of gradual abiding, and emptiness, and signlessness, and wishlessness, and the superknowledges, and the samādhis, and the doors of dhāraṇī are not apprehended, what need to mention meditating on the doors of dhāraṇī? If the powers of the Tathāgata are not apprehended, what need to mention actualizing the powers of the Tathāgata? If the fearlessnesses are not apprehended, what need to mention actualizing the fearlessnesses? If the separate perfect knowledges are not apprehended, what need to mention actualizing the separate perfect knowledges? If great compassion itself is not apprehended, what need to mention engaging in great compassion? If the unmixed qualities of the Buddha are not apprehended, what need to mention actualizing the unmixed qualities of the Buddha? If enlightenment itself is not apprehended, what need to mention fully awakening to enlightenment? If all-knowledge itself is not apprehended, what need to mention attaining all-knowledge? If the Tathāgata himself is not apprehended, what need to mention becoming a Tathāgata? If unbornness itself is not apprehended, what need to mention making unbornness manifest? If the marks are not apprehended, what need to mention having marks on the body? If the signs are not apprehended, what need to mention having signs on the body? Why is that? Kauśika, the venerable Subhūti abides in the solitude of all dharmas, he abides in the absence of an object, he abides in emptiness, he engages in signlessness, he engages in wishlessness. Kauśika, whatever the abiding of the venerable Subhūti is, with that a bodhisattva mahāsattva engages in the perfection of wisdom.

Action, even one percent does not come close to the manner of acting in the Perfection of Wisdom. A thousandth part, a hundred thousandth part, number, part, count, cause, example, do not even come close. Why is that? Apart from the conduct of the Tathagata, whatever conduct of the Bodhisattva Mahasattva acting in the Perfection of Wisdom, and whatever conduct of the Shravakas, and whatever conduct of the Pratyekabuddhas, from those conducts, the conduct of the Bodhisattva Mahasattva practicing the Perfection of Wisdom, this itself is called the most excellent. It is called the best. It is called the supreme. It is called the sacred. It is called the most excellent. It is unsurpassed. It is unequaled. It is unmatched. It is equal among the unequal. Kausika, therefore, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, wishing to become the most excellent of all sentient beings, should practice in this way, with this manner of acting in the Perfection of Wisdom. Why is that? Kausika, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva who practices this Perfection of Wisdom, transcends the level of the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, and enters the faultless state of the Bodhisattva. Having entered the faultless state of the Bodhisattva, he will completely perfect the Dharmas of the Buddha. Having completely perfected the Dharmas of the Buddha, he will attain the wisdom of omniscience. Having attained the wisdom of omniscience, he will become the Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Enlightened Buddha, having abandoned all afflictions that bind habitual tendencies, this is called the benefit of the Path of Seeing. Then, from within that assembly, the gods of the Thirty-Three Realms, holding many Mandarava flowers, scattered them upon the Blessed One. They completely scattered them. They thoroughly scattered them. More than six hundred monks also rose from their seats, bared one shoulder, knelt on their right knees, and joined their palms towards where the Blessed One was.

Having joined their palms, they gazed at the Blessed One without blinking and prostrated. When those monks joined their palms and bowed, by the power of the Buddha, their hands were filled with Mandarava flowers, and those Mandarava flowers were scattered upon the Tathagata, the Arhat, the Perfectly Awakened Buddha. They were completely scattered, they were thoroughly scattered. As they were scattered in this way, completely scattered, and thoroughly scattered, they spoke these words: "Blessed One, by this root of virtue, may we abide in the sacred place that is not the domain of all Hearers and Solitary Buddhas." Then, the Blessed One understood the thoughts of those monks, and at that moment, He smiled. It is also the nature of the Buddhas, the Blessed Ones. When He smiled in this way, from the Blessed One's face, like this: blue, yellow, red, white, lapis lazuli, crystal, and silver-colored rays of light of various kinds arose, and those rays filled the three-thousand great-thousand world system with light, and then gathered back, circumambulating the Blessed One three times from the right, and then disappeared into the crown of the Blessed One's head. Then, the venerable Ananda rose from his seat, arranged his upper robe over one shoulder, knelt on his right knee, and joined his palms towards the Blessed One, and said to the Blessed One: "Blessed One, the Tathagatas, the Arhats, the Perfectly Awakened Buddhas, do not smile without a cause and a condition. What is the cause of smiling? What is the condition?" When he had said this, the Blessed One said to the venerable Ananda: "Ananda, these six hundred monks will, after as many eons as there are stars, fully awaken to unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment, and will all become Tathagatas, Arhats, Perfectly Awakened Buddhas named Flower Scattering, appearing in the world. Ananda, the Tathagata, the Arhat,
