The place of how to act, by those names, those who do not manifest the equality of the Dharma of the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva are worthy of reverence. Then, the venerable Subhuti said to those gods: "Gods! Those Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas, by manifesting the equality of what Dharma, do not abide in the Hearer's ground, or the Solitary Buddha's ground, it is not difficult for them not to manifest that. Gods! Having donned armor, saying, 'We will cause all immeasurable, countless, inconceivable sentient beings to enter into Nirvana,' but those sentient beings who should be caused to enter into Nirvana are extremely unattainable, that is more difficult for them. The Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who acts in this way has manifested the Unsurpassed Perfect Enlightenment for the sake of taming all sentient beings, but thinking of taming sentient beings is the same as thinking of taming space. Why? Because space is peaceful, sentient beings are seen as peaceful. Because space is emptiness, sentient beings are seen as emptiness. Because space is without essence, sentient beings are seen as without essence. Because space is accumulation, sentient beings are seen as accumulation. Gods! By those names, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who dons armor for the benefit of those who have no sentient beings, they are doing difficult deeds. Why? Those who don armor for the benefit of sentient beings want to argue with space. The Bodhisattva-Mahasattva also puts on that armor, but for whose benefit the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva puts on the armor, those sentient beings are also unattainable. Why? Because sentient beings are peaceful, armor is seen as peaceful. If the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva does not shrink back when it is declared in this way, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva is practicing the Prajnaparamita. Why? Because form is peaceful, sentient beings are peaceful. Because feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness are peaceful, sentient beings are peaceful. Because the sense bases, elements, and dependent origination are peaceful

Sons of the gods, if a Bodhisattva Mahasattva does not lose heart when it is taught that all dharmas are empty, does not completely lose heart, and his mind does not fear, then this Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the perfection of wisdom, which is called the first realization based on the existence of a real person. Then, the Blessed One said to the venerable Subhuti: Subhuti, why does a Bodhisattva Mahasattva not fear the perfection of wisdom? He replied: Blessed One, because all dharmas do not exist, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva does not fear the perfection of wisdom. Blessed One, because all dharmas are empty, peaceful, and unborn, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva does not fear the perfection of wisdom. Blessed One, therefore a Bodhisattva Mahasattva does not fear the perfection of wisdom. What is the reason for this? Blessed One, it is because if it were so, who would lose heart, and what would

By which one becomes discouraged, and all those dharmas by which one becomes discouraged are non-existent, they are unattainable. Blessed One, if a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, when spoken to in this way, does not become discouraged, does not become timid, and believes, does not become lazy, does not fear, does not panic, does not become afraid, then that is practicing the Perfection of Wisdom. Why is that? Blessed One, because in this way, whatever would cause discouragement, by what would cause discouragement, and those dharmas by which one would become discouraged, all of those are non-existent. Blessed One, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva who practices in that way will be revered by the gods including Indra, including Brahma, including Prajāpati. The Blessed One said: Subhuti, any Bodhisattva Mahasattva who practices the Perfection of Wisdom will not only be revered by the gods including Indra, including Brahma, including Prajāpati, but also those superior, exceedingly superior, possessing splendor, increasing virtue, having great fruit, gods of the Pure Abodes will also revere that Bodhisattva Mahasattva who practices the Perfection of Wisdom in that way. Subhuti, in the ten directions of the world, the immeasurable, countless Tathagatas, Arhats, Perfectly Awakened Ones, as many as dwell and sustain themselves, they also keep in mind those Bodhisattva Mahasattvas who practice the Perfection of Wisdom. The Bodhisattva Mahasattva who practices the Perfection of Wisdom completely perfects the Perfection of Generosity, the Perfection of Ethical Conduct, the Perfection of Patience, the Perfection of Diligence, the Perfection of Meditation, and the Perfection of Wisdom. He completely perfects inner emptiness, he completely perfects the emptiness of the nature of non-things up to complete perfection. He completely perfects the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment.
