Even up to unsurpassed perfect complete enlightenment, he does not make the sign of non-thought, nor does he pay attention to whether things exist or do not exist. He who manifestly awakens, what should be done to manifestly awaken, and what should be done to manifestly awaken, he does not make the sign of non-thought of that, nor does he pay attention to whether things exist or do not exist. Why is that? Like this, all phenomena are the nature of non-things, and those Buddhas have not created them, nor have solitary Buddhas and hearers created them, all phenomena are without a maker, separated from the maker. Subhuti said: Blessed One, is it like that, phenomena are separated from the nature of phenomena themselves? The Blessed One said: Subhuti, it is like that, it is like that. Subhuti, phenomena are separated from the nature of phenomena themselves. He said: Blessed One, if it is like that, phenomena are separated from the nature of phenomena themselves, how can one understand whether things exist in phenomena or whether things do not exist in phenomena? Blessed One, with the phenomenon of non-existence, it is not possible to understand the phenomenon of non-existence, and with the phenomenon of existence, also

It is not permissible to seek. A dharma that is without substance cannot seek a dharma that has substance. A dharma that has substance cannot seek a dharma that is without substance. Thus, since there is no complete seeking of all dharmas, how could a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva think of substance or no substance? The Blessed One said: When a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, he shows that there is substance or no substance by relying on the worldly convention, but from the ultimate point of view, it is not so, which is a wrong conception of the wisdom of the All-Knowing One. Asked: Blessed One, what is it? Is the worldly convention one thing and the ultimate truth another? The Blessed One said: Subhuti, there is no saying that the worldly convention is one thing and the ultimate truth is another. Whatever is the suchness of the worldly convention is the suchness of the ultimate truth. However, those sentient beings are perverted, so they do not know or see that suchness. For the sake of those sentient beings, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva speaks of the worldly convention as having substance or no substance. Subhuti, also, however many sentient beings have the perception of substance in the five aggregates, and do not understand no substance, for the sake of those sentient beings, the division of dharmas is closely held, and if asked how to understand no substance, it is said so. Subhuti, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva should practice the Perfection of Wisdom in that way, which is a wrong conception of the two truths. Then, the venerable Subhuti said to the Blessed One: Blessed One, the conduct of a Bodhisattva, the conduct of a Bodhisattva, if it is said so, then what kind of designation is the conduct of a Bodhisattva that is said in that way? The Blessed One said: Subhuti, the conduct of a Bodhisattva, the conduct of a Bodhisattva, is

Because it is practiced for the sake of enlightenment, it is therefore called the practice of a Bodhisattva. Question: Blessed One, what does a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practice? The Blessed One said: He practices in what is called emptiness of form, and in whatever way, the mind does not change into duality, thus he practices. Feelings, perceptions, formations, and consciousness are also practiced in what is called emptiness, and in whatever way, the mind does not change into duality, thus he practices. He practices in what is called emptiness of the sense bases, the elements, and dependent origination. In whatever way, the mind does not change into duality, thus he practices. He practices in what is called emptiness of the perfection of generosity, the perfection of ethics, the perfection of patience, the perfection of diligence, the perfection of meditation, and the perfection of wisdom. He practices in what is called emptiness, from inner emptiness to emptiness of the nature of non-things. He practices in what is called emptiness of the first dhyana, the second dhyana, the third dhyana, the fourth dhyana, loving-kindness, compassion, joy, equanimity, the sphere of infinite space, the sphere of infinite consciousness, the sphere of nothingness, and the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception. He practices in what is called emptiness of the mindfulness, the correct abandonments, the bases of miraculous power, the faculties, the powers, the branches of enlightenment, and the eightfold noble path. He practices in what is called emptiness of the four noble truths, meditation, the immeasurables, the formless absorptions, the eight liberations, the nine sequential abidings, the samadhi of emptiness, the signless samadhi, the wishless samadhi, the superknowledges, and samadhi, the doors of dharani, the ten powers of the Tathagata, the four fearlessnesses, the four analytical knowledges, and the unmixed qualities of the Buddha. He practices in what is called emptiness up to the all-knowingness. Pure Buddha-fields.
