Even one in a hundred parts cannot come close. One in a thousand parts, one in a hundred thousand parts, one in a billion trillion parts cannot come close. Even between analogy and cause, it cannot be tolerated. What is the reason for this? Because it is from Bodhisattvas that Pratyekabuddhas arise, but it is not from Pratyekabuddhas that Bodhisattva Mahasattvas arise. Let alone if all the sentient beings in the three-thousand great thousand world system were to abide in the state of Pratyekabuddha. Even if all those sentient beings in the three-thousand great thousand world system were to enter the irreversible stage of a Bodhisattva, their merit would not even come close to one in a hundred parts of the merit of a Bodhisattva entering Bodhi. One in a thousand parts, one in a hundred thousand parts, one in a billion trillion parts cannot come close. Even between analogy and cause, it cannot be tolerated. What is the reason for this? Because it is from Bodhisattvas that those who enter the irreversible stage of a Bodhisattva arise, but it is not from those who enter the irreversible stage of a Bodhisattva that Bodhisattva Mahasattvas arise. Let alone if all the sentient beings in the three-thousand great thousand world system were to enter the irreversible stage of a Bodhisattva, even if all those sentient beings in the three-thousand great thousand world system were to enter Bodhi, their merit would not even come close to one in a hundred parts of the merit of a Tathagata Arhat Samyaksambuddha. One in a thousand parts, one in a hundred thousand parts, one in a billion trillion parts cannot come close. Number cannot be tolerated, measure cannot be tolerated, calculation cannot be tolerated, analogy cannot be tolerated, cause cannot be tolerated. This is called the Uninterrupted Samadhi. Homage to the Bhagavan, how should a Bodhisattva Mahasattva apply their mind when first generating the mind of enlightenment? The Bhagavan replied: One should apply their mind to the All-Knowingness itself. This is the nature of All-Knowingness itself, the Buddha.

It is the Buddha himself. I beseech you, Blessed One, what is the nature of the All-Knowingness? What is its object? What is its dominion? What is its aspect? What is its characteristic? The Blessed One said: Subhuti, that which is called All-Knowingness is without substance, without characteristic, without sign, without action, without birth, without cessation. Subhuti, if someone were to say, 'What is the object of All-Knowingness? What is its dominion? What is its aspect? What is its characteristic?' Subhuti, the object of All-Knowingness is without substance, its master is mindfulness, its aspect is peace, its characteristic is without characteristic. Subhuti, this is the object of All-Knowingness. This is its dominion. This is its aspect. This is its characteristic. To say this is the object, master, and aspect of All-Knowingness, these are what are taught as the uninterrupted samadhi. I beseech you, Blessed One, is it only All-Knowingness that has no substance? Or does form also have no substance? Are feeling, perception, volition, and consciousness also without substance? Are the twelve sources, the eighteen elements, and the twelve links of dependent origination also without substance? Are all the perfections, all the emptinesses, and the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment also without substance? Are the four noble truths, the meditations, the immeasurables, the formless absorptions, the eight liberations, the nine successive abidings, emptiness, signlessness, wishlessness, clairvoyance, samadhi, the gateways of dharani, the ten powers of the Tathagata, the four fearlessnesses, the four analytical knowledges, and the eighteen unshared qualities of a Buddha also without substance? Are great love, great compassion, great joy, and great equanimity also without substance? Are the conditioned realm and the

The uncreated realm is also without substance. The Blessed One said: Subhuti, even the all-knowingness is without substance. Form, feeling, perception, formations, and consciousness are also without substance. The sense bases, elements, and dependent origination are without substance. All perfections, all emptinesses, and the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment are also without substance. The noble truths, meditative stabilizations, immeasurables, formless absorptions, the eight liberations, the nine successive abidings, emptiness, signlessness, wishlessness, supernormal knowledges, samadhi, the gateways of dharani, the powers of the Tathagata, fearlessnesses, the individual perfect knowledges, and the unshared qualities of the Buddha are also without substance. Great love, great compassion, great joy, and great equanimity are also without substance. The realms of the conditioned and the unconditioned are also without substance. Why is that? Subhuti, like this, all-knowingness is without inherent existence. Subhuti, whatever is without inherent existence is without substance. He said: Blessed One, for what reason is all-knowingness without inherent existence? The Blessed One said: Subhuti, that which arises from combination is without inherent existence. Whatever is without inherent existence arising from combination is without substance. Subhuti, in this way, to think that all phenomena are of the nature of non-substantiality is a distorted conception of a valid object. Subhuti, in this way also, all phenomena are of the nature of emptiness. All phenomena are of the nature of signlessness. All phenomena are of the nature of wishlessness. Subhuti, in this way also, all phenomena are of the nature of suchness. All phenomena are of the nature of the ultimate reality. All phenomena are of the nature of the dharmadhatu. Subhuti, in this way also, all phenomena are known to be of the nature of non-substantiality.
