Due to the great ignorance, one discerns and knows actions. Similarly, due to actions, there is consciousness; due to consciousness, there are name and form; due to name and form, there are the six sense sources; due to the six sense sources, there is contact; due to contact, there is feeling; due to feeling, there is craving; due to craving, there is grasping; due to grasping, there is becoming; due to becoming, there is birth; due to birth, there is aging and death; due to aging and death, one discerns and knows sorrow, lamentation, suffering, displeasure, and agitation, and in this way, this great mass of pure suffering will arise in the world. If there is no aging and death, then sorrow, lamentation, suffering, displeasure, and agitation will not arise, thus one discerns and knows. Similarly, if there is no birth, then aging and death will not arise. If there is no becoming, then birth will not arise. If there is no grasping, then becoming will not arise. If there is no craving, then grasping will not arise. If there is no feeling, then becoming will not arise. If there is no contact, then feeling will not arise. If there are no six sense sources, then contact will not arise. If there are no name and form, then the six sense sources will not arise. If there is no consciousness, then name and form will not arise. If there are no actions, then consciousness will not arise. If there is no ignorance, then actions will not arise, thus one discerns and knows, and if so, this great mass of pure suffering will cease, thus one discerns and knows. Thus, one discerns and knows the twelve links of dependent origination, whether in accordance with the law or not in accordance with the law, and also makes the root of virtue common with all sentient beings and dedicates it entirely to the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Furthermore, how does one dedicate it entirely? In what way does one dedicate? To what does one dedicate? One dedicates it entirely in such a way that the three kinds of thoughts do not occur. Subhuti, in this way, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva with wisdom
