Abiding in the four legs of miraculous power, possessing skillful means, generating diligence of body and mind, going to one world, or a hundred worlds, or a thousand worlds, or billions of hundreds of thousands of worlds, teaching the Dharma to sentient beings, and thoroughly establishing the perfection of generosity. Thoroughly establishing the perfection of morality, the perfection of patience, the perfection of diligence, the perfection of meditation, and the perfection of wisdom. Thoroughly establishing the four mindfulnesses. Thoroughly establishing the noble eightfold path. Thoroughly establishing the fruit of stream-entry. Thoroughly establishing the fruit of once-returner, the fruit of non-returner, the state of Arhat, and solitary enlightenment. Thoroughly establishing even up to unsurpassed perfect complete enlightenment. However, in any case, it is not thoroughly established in the conditioned realm, nor is it thoroughly established in the unconditioned realm; thus, it is thoroughly established. Those roots of virtue are not dedicated to the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, but are made common with all sentient beings and dedicated to unsurpassed perfect complete enlightenment. How is that? It is dedicated in such a way that the three concepts of who dedicates, what is dedicated, and where it is dedicated do not arise. Subhuti, thus a Bodhisattva Mahasattva abiding in the Prajnaparamita is perfectly upholding the perfection of diligence. Asked: World Honored One, how does a Bodhisattva Mahasattva abiding in the Prajnaparamita perfectly uphold the perfection of meditation? The World Honored One replied: Subhuti, here, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva abiding in the Prajnaparamita, except for the Samadhi of the Tathagata, whether it is the Samadhi of the Shravakas, or the Samadhi of the Pratyekabuddhas, or even the Samadhi of the Bodhisattvas, all those Samadhis

Entering equally into all places, abiding in those samadhis, and equally entering into and emerging from the eight liberations, both in accordance with and against the order. What are the eight? Subhuti, here, a bodhisattva-mahasattva sees forms as forms; this is the first liberation. Possessing the perception of formlessness internally, seeing external forms; this is the second liberation. Having faith in the beautiful; this is the third liberation. Having completely transcended the perception of form in every way, with the perceptions of resistance ceasing, and not attending to various perceptions, (thinking) 'space is endless,' thus approaching and abiding in the sphere of endless space; this is the fourth liberation. Having completely transcended the sphere of endless space in every way, (thinking) 'consciousness is endless,' thus approaching and abiding in the sphere of endless consciousness; this is the fifth liberation. Having completely transcended the sphere of endless consciousness in every way, (thinking) 'there is nothing at all,' thus approaching and abiding in the sphere of nothing at all; this is the sixth liberation. Having completely transcended the sphere of nothing at all in every way, approaching and abiding in the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception; this is the seventh liberation. Having completely transcended the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception in every way, approaching and abiding in the cessation of perception and feeling; this is the eighth liberation. Thus, entering equally into and emerging from these eight liberations, both in accordance with and against the order. Entering equally into and emerging from the nine successive abidings, both in accordance with and against the order. What are the nine? Subhuti, here, a bodhisattva-mahasattva, being secluded from desire, secluded from the nature of sinful and unwholesome dharmas, with investigation and analysis, possessing joy and bliss born of seclusion, approaches and abides in the first dhyana. When that investigation and analysis have ceased, the inner being is completely clear,

Because the mind stream has become one, there is no thought, no examination, and one dwells having closely attained the second dhyana, which has joy and bliss born of samadhi. Having become detached from desire from joy, one dwells in equanimity with mindfulness and awareness. The body experiences bliss, and the noble ones call it equanimity with mindfulness, discriminating bliss. One dwells having closely attained the third dhyana, which is without joy. One has abandoned bliss and also abandoned suffering, and because mental pleasure and displeasure have also previously ceased, there is neither pleasure nor suffering, and one dwells having closely attained the fourth dhyana, which has equanimity and completely pure mindfulness. One completely transcends the perception of form in all ways, the perceptions of obstruction have ceased, and because one does not attend to various perceptions, thinking "space is endless," one dwells having closely attained the sphere of endless space. One completely transcends the sphere of endless space in all ways, thinking "consciousness is endless," one dwells having closely attained the sphere of endless consciousness. One completely transcends the sphere of endless consciousness in all ways, thinking "there is nothing at all," one dwells having closely attained the sphere of nothingness. One completely transcends the sphere of nothingness in all ways, one dwells having closely attained the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception. One completely transcends the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception in all ways, one dwells having closely attained the cessation of perception and feeling. In this way, one enters and emerges from these nine successive meditative stabilizations in accordance with and contrary to the order. He distinguishes these eight liberations and these nine successive meditative stabilizations, and enters the Lion's Play Samadhi. Having dwelt in that samadhi, he distinguishes the twelve links of dependent origination in accordance with and contrary to the order. What are the twelve links? Subhuti, here a Bodhisattva Mahasattva
