That is not difficult. O sons of gods, the Bodhisattva puts on armor, vowing to completely liberate all immeasurable, countless, and inconceivable beings from suffering. However, to liberate those beings who are actually unidentifiable is even more difficult for them. Therefore, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who acts in this way enters into unsurpassed perfect enlightenment in order to subdue all beings. If someone thinks that beings can be subdued, it is like thinking that space can be subdued. Why is that? Because space is peaceful, so beings are also regarded as peaceful. Because space is emptiness, so beings are also regarded as emptiness. Because space has no essence, so beings are also regarded as having no essence. Because space is false, so beings are also regarded as false. O sons of gods, therefore, it is very difficult for the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva to put on armor for the sake of those non-existent beings. Those who put on armor for the benefit of beings are like wanting to argue with space. The Bodhisattva-Mahasattva has put on the armor, but those beings for whose benefit the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva has put on the armor are also unidentifiable. Why is that? Because beings are peaceful, so armor is also regarded as peaceful. If the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva does not shrink back when taught in this way, then this Bodhisattva-Mahasattva is practicing the Prajnaparamita. Why is that? Because form is peaceful, so beings are peaceful. Feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness are also peaceful, so beings are peaceful. The twelve sources, the eighteen elements, and dependent origination are peaceful, so beings are peaceful. The perfections, all emptiness, and the dharmas of the path to enlightenment are peaceful, so beings are peaceful. The eighteen unshared qualities of the Buddha up to all-knowingness are peaceful, so beings are peaceful. Because form is peaceful, so the Prajnaparamita is peaceful. Feeling, perception,

Conditioned phenomena and, because of the emptiness of consciousness, the Perfection of Wisdom is empty. Sense bases and, elements and, dependent origination, because of emptiness, the Perfection of Wisdom is empty. The perfections and, all emptinesses and, the dharmas of the aspects of enlightenment, because of emptiness, the Perfection of Wisdom is empty. The eighteen unshared qualities of the Buddha up to, because of emptiness, the Perfection of Wisdom is empty. All-knowingness up to, because of emptiness, the Perfection of Wisdom is empty. Sons of the gods, if a Bodhisattva Mahasattva does not become disheartened when emptiness is taught of all dharmas, does not become completely disheartened, and his mind does not become frightened, then that Bodhisattva Mahasattva is practicing the Perfection of Wisdom, which is the first realization based on the existence of a person as a substance. Then, the Blessed One said this to the venerable Subhuti: Subhuti, why does a Bodhisattva Mahasattva not become disheartened in the Perfection of Wisdom? He replied: Blessed One, because all dharmas do not exist, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva does not become disheartened in the Perfection of Wisdom. Blessed One, all dharmas, emptiness, peace, and non-arising, because of this, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva does not become disheartened in the Perfection of Wisdom. Blessed One, for that reason, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva does not become disheartened in the Perfection of Wisdom. Why is that? Blessed One, it is because, in this way, whatever becomes disheartened, by what it becomes disheartened, and what it becomes disheartened about, all those dharmas do not exist, they are without an object of focus. Blessed One, if a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, when it is spoken in that way, does not shrink back, does not retreat, and has faith, does not become lazy, does not fear, does not panic, and does not become terrified, then he is practicing the Perfection of Wisdom. Why is that? Blessed One, it is because, in this way, whatever becomes disheartened
