Meditate on the five faculties, the five powers, the seven branches of enlightenment, and the Noble Eightfold Path. Meditate on the three doors of liberation. By meditating on these, one gradually attains complete liberation from suffering through the three vehicles. That is not to regress from the path of unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Subhuti, thus a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva dwells in the perfection of generosity and gathers beings completely through the perfection of concentration. Subhuti, how does a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva act in the perfection of generosity and gather beings completely through the perfection of wisdom? Subhuti, here, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva dwells in the perfection of generosity and, seeing beings whose wisdom has deteriorated, says, 'Beings, why do you not cultivate wisdom?' They say, 'Because we do not possess the conditions.' Then, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva dwells in the perfection of generosity and advises those beings thus: 'Take from me the necessary items, practice generosity, keep the precepts, cultivate patience, exert effort, abide in concentration, and completely perfect these aspects.' When cultivating the perfection of wisdom, regarding self, or sentient beings, or life, or goers, or nurturers, or individuals, or persons, or powerful ones, or lords of power, or doers, or feelers, or knowers, or seers, or form, or feeling, or perception, or formations, or consciousness, or sense bases, or elements, or dependent origination, or the perfections, or all of emptiness, or the dharmas of the aspects of enlightenment, or the noble truths, or meditation, or the immeasurables, or the formless attainments, or liberation, or the successive abidings in attainment, or emptiness, or signlessness, or wishlessness, or clairvoyance, or concentration, or the doors of dharani, or the powers of the Tathagata, or fearlessness, or individual perfect knowledge, or great love, or great compassion,

Or, those that are not mixed with the teachings of the Buddha, or the fruit of stream-enterer, or the fruit of once-returner, or the fruit of non-returner, or the Arhat himself, or the Pratyekabuddha, or even the all-knowing one. Is there any dharma? Choose and indicate accordingly, saying, "Completely realize!" Therefore, when that Bodhisattva-Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, he does not fixate on any dharma that would become an object of attachment due to fixation. Because he has no attachment to it, he does not truly see the arising or ceasing of any dharma, or complete defilement, or complete purification. Because he does not truly see it, he does not discriminate, saying, "This is a sentient being in hell," "This is the place of birth of animals," "This is the world of Yama," "This belongs to the race of Asuras," "This is a god," "This is a human," "This is virtuous," "This is immoral," "This is a stream-enterer," "This is a once-returner," "This is a non-returner," "This is an Arhat," "This is a Pratyekabuddha," "This is a Bodhisattva," "This is a Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Enlightened Buddha." Shariputra, in this way, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, abiding in the Perfection of Giving, completely gathers sentient beings through the Perfection of Wisdom. Shariputra, how does the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, abiding in the Perfection of Giving, as well as the Perfection of Morality, as well as the Perfection of Patience, as well as the Perfection of Diligence, as well as the Perfection of Meditation, as well as the Perfection of Wisdom, connect sentient beings with the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment? Shariputra, here, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva prepares resources for sentient beings, and those sentient beings who are completely possessed by those resources practice the factors of enlightenment. Because they practice the factors of enlightenment, they will be completely liberated from samsara. Shariputra, it is like that.

Then, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva abides in the six perfections and encourages beings to practice the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment. Furthermore, Subhuti, when the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva practices the perfection of generosity, if they see beings who are helpless, suffering, and lacking food and clothing, they should bring them to fulfillment in this way: 'Noble sons, come here! Take from me food, drink, clothing, vehicles, bedding, flowers, incense, perfumes, garlands, ointments, human necessities, and any kind of equipment, even up to the seven precious things. Benefit sentient beings! This will bring you long-term benefit, happiness, and well-being.' One should think, 'These things belong to my father, not to me.' One should not think, 'These things have been accumulated by me for a long time for the sake of sentient beings.' You should consider these things as mine and completely give them to sentient beings. Through generosity, also cultivate discipline, patience, diligence, meditation, and wisdom. Cultivate all emptiness and the factors of enlightenment. Cultivate the noble truths, meditation, the immeasurables, the formless absorptions, liberation, the successive abidings, emptiness, signlessness, wishlessness, clairvoyance, samadhi, and the gateways of dharani. Cultivate the ten powers of the Tathagata, the four fearlessnesses, the four analytical knowledges, great love, great compassion, and the unmixed qualities of the Buddha. Do not be content with just that, but cultivate the more supreme undefiled dharmas. For example, abide in the fruit of stream-entry, once-returner, non-returner, arhatship, solitary enlightenment, and unsurpassed perfect and complete enlightenment.' Thus, encourage and instruct them. Subhuti, in this way, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva should practice generosity.
