Also rejoice. The four mindfulnesses, the four perfect abandonments, the four legs of magical power, the five faculties, the five powers, the seven branches of enlightenment, and the eight noble path branches are all well established. The four noble truths, the four meditations, the four immeasurables, the four formless absorptions, the eight liberations, the nine successive abidings, the doors of liberation, emptiness, signlessness, wishlessness, the five superknowledges, all samadhis, and all dharani doors are all well established. It enables one to enter the faultless right path. It enables one to attain the fruit of stream-enterer, the fruit of once-returner, the fruit of non-returner, and the state of Arhat. It enables one to attain self-enlightenment. It thoroughly encourages one towards unsurpassed perfect complete enlightenment. O gentlemen, it is not difficult to realize unsurpassed perfect complete enlightenment and become fully enlightened, except for sentient beings who are deluded by perversion and cannot comprehend it. Whatever dharma sentient beings are attached to, such a dharma does not exist by its very nature. Cut off all perverse clinging, and also liberate me from samsara. Also liberate others. Thus, may you all accomplish great benefit. Also lead others to great benefit, thus encouraging. Subhuti, thus a Bodhisattva Mahasattva should practice the perfection of generosity. When practicing in this way, from the very first generation of the mind, one should take it closely. If one practices in this way, one will never fall into the lower realms, and one will never become a wheel-turning monarch. Why is that? Just as the seed is, so is the fruit. No matter how many beggars come before the wheel-turning monarch, the wheel-turning monarch thinks, "If I do not benefit sentient beings, then I will not accept the position of wheel-turning monarch." Thus, he says, "What do you want?"

Through the blessing of generosity, this is not mine but yours. I do not even seek my inner form, let alone anything else. Furthermore, I take on samsara for the benefit of all sentient beings, not seeking samsara for my own sake. Thus, with loving-kindness, one perfects great compassion, and with great compassion, one benefits sentient beings, yet one does not perceive any sentient being as being accomplished. Furthermore, one acts through perception, name, and speech, yet one knows that such action is also like a sound, unattainable. Subhuti, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva should thus practice the Perfection of Giving. When practicing, one must ensure that there is nothing, even my own flesh and blood, that has not been given to sentient beings. What need is there to mention any external object that can liberate sentient beings from samsara? One should practice in this way. Question: Blessed One, what are those objects? The Blessed One said: The Perfection of Giving is a resource, the Perfection of Ethics, the Perfection of Patience, the Perfection of Diligence, the Perfection of Meditation, the Perfection of Wisdom are resources. Inner emptiness is a resource, outer emptiness is a resource, inner and outer emptiness is a resource, the emptiness of the nature of non-things is a resource. Mindfulness, right abandonment, miraculous feet, faculties, powers, limbs of enlightenment, the eightfold noble path are resources. Noble truths, meditation, immeasurables, formless absorptions, liberation, gradual abiding absorptions, emptiness, signlessness, wishlessness, clairvoyance, samadhi, and the gates of dharani are resources. The ten powers of the Tathagata, the four fearlessnesses, the four analytical knowledges, great loving-kindness, great compassion, and the unmixed qualities of the Buddha.

Those are the implements. Those are the implements; with those implements, they completely gather sentient beings, and gradually with the Hearer Vehicle, or the Solitary Buddha Vehicle, or the Great Vehicle, with those three vehicles, they completely turn them away from nirvana. Subhuti, thus a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva abides in the Perfection of Giving, and with the Perfection of Giving, he completely gathers sentient beings. Subhuti, how does a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva practice the Perfection of Giving, and establish sentient beings in the Perfection of Morality? Subhuti, here, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva abides in the Perfection of Giving, and also completely gives to sentient beings; when he gives, he says this: Noble sons, come! Keep the precepts! I will make you without lack of food, bedding, clothing, vehicles, bedding, flowers, incense, perfume, garlands, unguents, houses, wealth, grain, jewels, pearls, lapis lazuli, conch shells, jade, coral, gold, silver, and even the necessities of people and any implements whatsoever. If you, due to lack, engage in evil conduct, I will make you without lack of all implements, even the seven precious things. He makes you abide in the precepts of discipline, and gradually with the Hearer Vehicle, or the Solitary Buddha Vehicle, or the Vehicle of Omniscience, or those three vehicles, he brings them to the end of suffering. Then the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva himself also keeps the precepts, and also exhorts others to keep the precepts, speaks of the virtues of keeping the precepts, and rejoices and praises other sentient beings who keep the precepts. Thus, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva causes those sentient beings Thus, he establishes them in morality, and well establishes them in morality, and gradually with the three vehicles, he turns them away from nirvana. Subhuti, thus the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, the other shore of giving
