It is the time to go to the other shore, it is the time to go to the other shore of diligence, it is the time to go to the other shore of meditation, it is the time to go to the other shore of wisdom. This is the time to meditate on mindfulness. This is the time to meditate on the right abandonment, the feet of magical power, the faculties, the powers, the limbs of enlightenment, and the eightfold noble path. This is the time to meditate on emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness. This is the time to meditate on inner emptiness. This is the time to meditate from outer emptiness to the emptiness of the nature of non-things. This is the time to meditate on the samadhi of meditation, immeasurable, and formless. This is the time to meditate on the noble truths. This is the time to obtain the superknowledges, the samadhis, and the gates of dharani. This is the time to obtain the ten powers of the Tathagata, the four fearlessnesses, the four analytical knowledges, and the eighteen unshared qualities of the Buddha. This is the time to obtain great love and great compassion. This is not the time to realize the fruit of stream-entry. It is not the time to realize the fruit of once-returner, non-returner, and Arhatship. It is not the time to realize the wisdom of the solitary Buddha. This is the time not to abandon the path to attain omniscience. Thus, it should be examined. Subhuti, thus, when a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva practices in the Perfection of Wisdom, he should be well acquainted with emptiness, but he should not abide in emptiness. He should be well acquainted with signlessness, but he should not abide in signlessness. He should be well acquainted with wishlessness, but he should not abide in wishlessness. He should meditate on the mindfulnesses, and although he abides in the mindfulnesses, he should not realize them. He should meditate on the right abandonments, the feet of magical power, the faculties, the powers, and the limbs of enlightenment, and although he abides in the limbs of enlightenment, he should not

Nor does he realize it. He meditates on the eight branches of the Noble Path, and even abiding by the eight branches of the Noble Path, he does not realize it. Subhuti, in this way, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva is one who is fully familiar with the Dharmas that are aspects of enlightenment, meditates on the Dharmas that are aspects of enlightenment, and conducts himself in the manner of the Dharmas that are aspects of enlightenment, but does not realize the fruit of Stream-enterer, the fruit of Once-returner, the fruit of Non-returner, Arhatship itself, or Self-enlightenment. This is called skillful means. Subhuti, it is like this, for example: A man is brave, energetic, powerful, and very reliable, handsome in appearance, with a good and pleasing countenance, possessing an excellent complexion, highly skilled in wrestling, carrying strong weapons, fully accomplished in all sixty-four arts, knowledgeable and aware of all crafts and professions, pleasing and beloved by many people, and whatever he undertakes, he has great gains in everything. With these gains, he serves and entertains many beings. He is very happy and joyful, delighted and content. For some need, he leads his parents, children, and wife to a remote monastery, where the children become frightened and terrified. That man, having arrived there, gives fearlessness to his parents, children, and wife, saying: Do not be afraid! Do not be afraid! I will quickly lead you out of this frightening and uncomfortable remote monastery, and quickly liberate you. He gives fearlessness. In that remote monastery, many enemies who want to kill that man are nearby. That man also possesses the supreme power of wisdom, and he leads his parents, children, and wife out of that remote monastery, liberating them in peace and without affliction. Then, without being harmed or diminished, he returns to a village, city, town, or the edge of the countryside, and feels happy and content. He does not even harbor hatred in his mind towards those enemy attackers.

Yes. Why is that? Because that person is proficient in all illusions, so in that village called "འབྲོག་དགོན་པ", he conjures up more, braver, and more heavily armed rebels than those rebels, and all those rebels are destroyed by that fear. If that person makes parents, children, and wives free from affliction and live happily, then, Subhuti, similarly, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva dwells pervading all sentient beings with thoughts of loving-kindness, compassion, joy, and equanimity, then that Bodhisattva Mahasattva dwells in the four immeasurables and also completely perfects the six perfections. Having completely perfected them, before attaining the exhaustion of defilements, he becomes fully familiar with all-knowingness. He dwells in the doors of liberation, emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness, and becomes fully familiar with all-knowingness. At that time, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva also does not act with signs. He also does not manifest any signless samadhi that, if manifested, would cause one to abide in the ground of a Hearer or a Solitary Buddha, which is called completely transcending the obstructing dharmas. Subhuti, for example, a bird flies in the sky and does not fall to the ground, and although it dwells in the sky, it does not cling to it. Subhuti, similarly, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva is also fully familiar with emptiness and also abides in emptiness. Being fully familiar with signlessness and wishlessness, why would he act in signlessness and wishlessness? Whatever manifestation of emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness, before fully perfecting the ten powers of the Tathagata, the four fearlessnesses, the four analytical knowledges, great loving-kindness, great compassion, and the eighteen unshared qualities of a Buddha, he will not manifest falling into the ground of a Hearer or a Solitary Buddha.
