In this way, one should train in the ten powers of the Tathagata, the four fearlessnesses, the four analytical knowledges, and the eighteen unshared qualities of a Buddha. One should train in the ten perfections. One should train in great compassion. When one trains in the mind of enlightenment in this way, all phenomena will be manifestly and perfectly awakened in the nature of non-inherent existence. If there is not even a particle of karma of mindfulness in that, then how could there be form, feeling, perception, formation, or consciousness, or the sense bases, or the elements, or the dependent arisings, or the perfections, or all of emptiness, and the aspects of enlightenment, or the noble truths, or the meditations, or the immeasurables, or the formless absorptions, or the liberations, or the gradual abidings in absorption, or emptiness, signlessness, wishlessness, or the superknowledges, or the samadhis, or the gateways of dharani, or the powers of the Tathagata, or the fearlessnesses, or the analytical knowledges, or great love, great compassion, or the unshared qualities of a Buddha, or even omniscience? How could there be the wisdom of omniscience? That is nonexistent. Subhuti, thus a bodhisattva mahasattva has a gradual practice of training in the nature of non-inherent existence of all phenomena. There is a gradual training. There is a gradual path of entry, and therefore the mind, conduct, and training will enter into that. When this was said, the venerable Subhuti said to the Blessed One: Blessed One, if all phenomena are of the nature of non-inherent existence, then form does not exist, nor do feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness. The sense bases do not exist, nor do the elements, nor do the dependent arisings. The limbs of dependent arising do not exist, nor do the perfections, nor does all of emptiness.

I, the dharmas of the aspects of enlightenment are also non-existent. The noble truths and, meditation and, immeasurables and, the formless attainments and, liberation and, the successive abiding attainments and, emptiness and, signlessness and, wishlessness and, supernormal knowledges and, samadhi and, the doors of dharani and, the powers of the Thus-Gone One and, fearlessnesses and, individual perfect knowledges and, great love and, great compassion and, the unmixed dharmas of the Buddha are also non-existent. The Blessed One said: Subhuti, what do you think? Do you think that all dharmas, in the nature of non-things, have something that can be pointed out as existing or not existing? Subhuti said: Blessed One, that is not the case. In the nature of non-things, all dharmas, existing or not existing, cannot be pointed out. The Blessed One said: Subhuti, if that is so, why do you say that? If all dharmas are of the nature of non-things, then form is also non-existent.

There is also no. There is also no affliction. There is also no purification. There is also no attainment. There is also no realization. There are also no all dharmas. Subhuti asked: World Honored One, I have no hesitation or doubt about these dharmas. However, World Honored One, in the time when the World Honored One had not yet appeared, monks of the Hearer Vehicle, or of the Solitary Buddha Vehicle, or of the Bodhisattva Vehicle, would say this: If all dharmas are of the nature of non-existence, then who would be afflicted or purified by all non-existent dharmas? Because they do not understand affliction and purification, they will have perverse morality, perverse views, perverse conduct, and perverse livelihood. Because of perverse morality, perverse views, perverse conduct, and perverse livelihood, they will fall into one of the three evil destinies of hell, the realm of animals, or the realm of Yama. World Honored One, I saw that unhappened fear, so I asked the Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Enlightened One about this matter. World Honored One, I have no hesitation or doubt about these dharmas. The World Honored One said: Subhuti, good, good! That is so, just as you say. Then, the venerable Subhuti said this to the World Honored One: World Honored One, if all dharmas are of the nature of non-existence, then seeing what meaning does the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva enter into Unsurpassed Perfect Enlightenment for the sake of the benefit of sentient beings? The World Honored One said: Subhuti, it is precisely because all dharmas are of the nature of non-existence that the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva enters into Unsurpassed Perfect Enlightenment. Why is that? Subhuti, because the object of focus is narrow, and those who have the notion of clinging to the object of focus have no attainment, no realization, and no Unsurpassed Perfect Enlightenment. Asked: World Honored One
