Therefore, this is mindfulness of the Buddha. Shariputra, furthermore, when a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva practices mindfulness of the Buddha, he does not contemplate the Tathagata, Arhat, Samyak-sambuddha's aggregate of morality, does not contemplate the aggregate of samadhi, does not contemplate the aggregate of wisdom, does not contemplate the aggregate of liberation, and does not contemplate the aggregate of the knowledge and vision of liberation. What is the reason for this? Because, like this, these do not have inherent existence. Whatever does not have inherent existence is without substance. Because there is no substance, one cannot remember what is without substance. What is the reason for this? Because there is no remembrance and no mental engagement, this is called mindfulness of the Buddha, that is, not contemplating the aggregates of morality, etc., therefore it is mindfulness of the Buddha. Shariputra, furthermore, when a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva practices mindfulness of the Buddha, he does not contemplate the Tathagata, Arhat, Samyak-sambuddha's ten powers of the Tathagata, does not contemplate the four fearlessnesses, does not contemplate the four analytical knowledges, does not contemplate great loving-kindness, does not contemplate great compassion, and does not contemplate the eighteen unshared qualities of the Buddha. What is the reason for this? Because, like this, these do not have inherent existence. Whatever does not have inherent existence is without substance.

This is mindfulness of the Buddha. Subhuti, thus, when a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva practices Prajnaparamita in the self-nature of non-substantiality of all dharmas, he should cultivate mindfulness of the Buddha. In this way, he will accomplish gradual actions, gradual learning, and gradual practice. If he learns gradual actions, gradual learning, and gradual practice, then by the principle of non-substantiality, he can perfect all Paramitas, all emptiness, the four mindfulnesses, the four right abandonments, the four miraculous feet, the five faculties, the five powers, the seven branches of enlightenment, the eight noble path branches, the noble truths, meditative concentration, the immeasurables, the formless absorptions, the eight liberations, and the nine successive abidings in meditative concentration. He will perfect the Samadhi of emptiness, the Samadhi of no characteristics, and the Samadhi of no wishes. He will perfect supernormal knowledge, Samadhi, the doors of Dharani, the ten powers of the Tathagata, the four fearlessnesses, the four analytical knowledges, great love, and great compassion. He will perfect the eighteen unshared qualities of the Buddha, and even perfect all-knowingness. He will realize perfect enlightenment in the self-nature of non-substantiality of all dharmas. If there is no perception of things or non-things, then what need is there to speak of even a small amount of the karma of mindfulness, or being separated from mindfulness? This is called mindfulness of the Buddha. Subhuti, how does a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva cultivate mindfulness of the Dharma? Subhuti, thus, when a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva practices Prajnaparamita, while cultivating mindfulness of the Dharma, he does not focus on virtuous dharmas, nor does he focus on non-virtuous or neutral dharmas.

Do not do it. Worldly dharmas and, transcendental dharmas and, dharmas with defilements and, dharmas without defilements and, noble dharmas and, non-noble dharmas and, dharmas with outflows and, dharmas without outflows and, dharmas belonging to the desire realm and, dharmas belonging to the form realm and, dharmas belonging to the formless realm and, conditioned dharmas and, unconditioned dharmas are not kept in mind. Why is that? It is because those dharmas have no inherent nature. Whatever has no inherent nature is without substance. Because there is no substance, one cannot remember the insubstantial. Why is that? It is because not remembering and not recollecting is the recollection of the Dharma. Subhuti, in this way, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, having trained in the recollection of the Dharma, perfects it through the nature of insubstantiality up to the attainment of omniscience. That is, all dharmas will be fully awakened in the nature of insubstantiality. If there is no perception of substance or insubstance in it, then what need is there to mention even a particle of the activity of memory, or being separated from memory? This is called the recollection of the Dharma. Subhuti, how does a Bodhisattva Mahasattva cultivate the recollection of the Sangha? Subhuti, here, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, he cultivates the recollection of the Sangha, that is, the Sangha of the Blessed One's disciples, and the four pairs of men and the eight individuals who are complete with morality, samadhi, wisdom, liberation, and the vision of the knowledge of liberation, are kept in mind as being of the nature of insubstantiality. Why is that? It is because they have no inherent nature. Whatever has no inherent nature is insubstantial. Because there is no substance, one cannot remember the insubstantial. Why is that? It is because not remembering and not keeping in mind is the recollection of the Sangha. Subhuti,
