Hearing this profound Prajñāpāramitā, great courageous Bodhisattvas will not be dismayed, will not be universally frightened, will not be seized by universal fear. Those who are like that will not be long before they obtain the prediction of unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment. They will not pass beyond one, two, or three Tathāgatas before they obtain the prediction of unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment. Then the Blessed One addressed the venerable Śāriputra: "Śāriputra, it is just so, it is just so. Śāriputra, Bodhisattvas, great beings, who have long entered the Great Vehicle correctly, who have long practiced the six perfections, who have attended to and honored many Buddhas, such beings will appear. Śāriputra, those Bodhisattvas, great beings, hearing this profound Prajñāpāramitā, will not be dismayed, will not be universally frightened, will not be seized by universal fear, and having heard it, they will increasingly grow, hold, recite, and fully comprehend it, and they will abide in the Prajñāpāramitā as it has been taught." Then the venerable Śāriputra said to the Blessed One: "Blessed One, I am emboldened. Well-Gone One, I am emboldened." The Blessed One admonished: "Son of good family, be emboldened!" Śāriputra reported: "Blessed One, for example, a son or daughter of good family who has correctly entered the Great Vehicle, in a dream meditates on the Prajñāpāramitā, the Dhyāna-pāramitā, the Vīrya-pāramitā, the Kṣānti-pāramitā, the Śīla-pāramitā, and the Dāna-pāramitā, up to the essence of Bodhi, such a son or daughter of good family, Blessed One, I should know that they are close to unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment. Blessed One, when a son or daughter of good family is not asleep, they practice the Prajñāpāramitā.

And the perfection of meditation, the perfection of diligence, the perfection of patience, the perfection of discipline, and the perfection of generosity. Whoever cultivates these, O Lord, what need is there to say about realizing unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment and being so close to it? This is called the practice of obtaining prediction. O Lord, a son or daughter of good family who hears this profound perfection of wisdom, and having heard it, also practices it, will completely aspire to the roots of virtue. O Lord, whichever son or daughter of good family, having heard this profound perfection of wisdom, will hold it, will recite it, will read it, will comprehend it, and will properly apply their mind to it, those ones have truly entered the Great Vehicle from a long time ago. O Lord, those sons or daughters of good family have generated roots of virtue, have revered many Buddhas, and are embraced by virtuous friends. O Lord, those sons or daughters of good family will be close to receiving the prediction of unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment. O Lord, whichever son or daughter of good family generates this perfection of wisdom within themselves, and having generated it, also holds it, recites it, reads it, comprehends it, and properly applies their mind to it, those ones will be predicted to attain unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment, or will become non-retreating ones. This is called the practice of non-retrogression. O Lord, for example, if a certain person comes from a desolate wilderness a hundred yojanas away, or from a desolate wilderness two hundred yojanas, three hundred yojanas, four hundred yojanas, or five hundred yojanas away, and when he comes to a village, city, town, district, or near the entourage of the king's palace, (he will see) a cowherd, a boundary, an orchard, a forest, or a garden.

Do you see fields? Do you see villages, cities, towns, regions, and the palaces of kings and their surroundings? If you see them, you should think like this: From these sights, villages, cities, towns, regions, or the palaces of kings and their surroundings are nearby. In this way, breathing will be smooth, and there will be no more fear of thieves, fear of outcastes, fear of ferocious beasts, fear of hunger, or fear of thirst. World-Honored One, similarly, if a Bodhisattva Mahasattva can generate this Prajnaparamita in his own mind, and after generating it, can also uphold, recite, read, comprehend, and properly attend to it, World-Honored One, then it should be known that that Bodhisattva Mahasattva is close to being prophesied, and soon after he will manifest and realize unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment. That Bodhisattva Mahasattva will no longer fear the Hearer's Ground or the Solitary Buddha's Ground. What is the reason for this? Because, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva observes, prostrates, makes offerings, and listens with this profound Prajnaparamita, which is itself his omen. After speaking, the World-Honored One told the Venerable Shariputra: Shariputra, it is so, it is so. This is called the cause and condition for certain occurrence. Shariputra, you should further generate joy with the power of the Buddha. Shariputra reported: World-Honored One, for example, if someone wants to measure the depth of the great ocean, when he wants to measure the depth of the great ocean, no matter what the great ocean is like, as long as he sees trees, signs of trees, mountains, or signs of mountains, he will think that the great ocean is still far from here, and the great ocean has not yet approached. What is the reason for this? Because next to that great ocean, even if there are only a few trees, signs of trees, mountains, or signs of mountains,
