It is a very large part. I myself must fully ripen all sentient beings. Furthermore, I must encourage others to fully ripen their minds. The goodness of fully ripening sentient beings should be proclaimed. The goodness of those other sentient beings who fully ripen sentient beings should be proclaimed, and they should be rejoiced with in agreement. I myself must purify the Buddha-field. Furthermore, I must encourage others to purify the Buddha-field. The goodness of purifying the Buddha-field should be proclaimed. The goodness of those other sentient beings who abide in purifying the Buddha-field should be proclaimed, and they should be rejoiced with in agreement. This is called the lesser excellence. I myself must generate the direct perception of a Bodhisattva. Furthermore, I must encourage others to generate the direct perception of a Bodhisattva. The goodness of generating direct perception should be proclaimed. The goodness of those other sentient beings who generate the direct perception of a Bodhisattva should be proclaimed, and they should be rejoiced with in agreement. This is called the middling excellence of Dharma. I myself must generate the wisdom of the all-knowingness itself. Furthermore, I must encourage others in the wisdom of the all-knowingness itself. The goodness of the wisdom of the all-knowingness itself should be proclaimed. The goodness of those other sentient beings who generate the wisdom of the all-knowingness itself should be proclaimed, and they should be rejoiced with in agreement. I myself must abandon all the afflictions that connect with habitual tendencies. Furthermore, I must encourage others to abandon all the afflictions that connect with habitual tendencies. The goodness of abandoning all the afflictions that connect with habitual tendencies should be proclaimed. The goodness of those other sentient beings who abandon the afflictions that connect with habitual tendencies should be proclaimed, and they should be rejoiced with in agreement. I myself must fully take hold of the perfection of life. Furthermore, I must encourage others in the perfection of life. The goodness of the perfection of life should be proclaimed. The goodness of those other sentient beings who abide in the perfection of life of a great person should be proclaimed, and they should be rejoiced with in agreement. I myself must fully abide in the sacred Dharma.

should be upheld. Furthermore, one should diligently encourage the abiding of the sacred Dharma. One should praise the merits of abiding in the sacred Dharma. For any other beings who uphold the abiding of the sacred Dharma, one should praise those excellent individuals and rejoice in their virtues with harmony. Subhuti, thus, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who wishes to manifest the unexcelled, perfectly complete enlightenment should abide in a manner without objectification. Subhuti, thus, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva should abide in the Perfection of Wisdom and skillful means. By learning and abiding in this way, their form will become without obscuration. Feeling will be without obscuration, perception will be without obscuration, mental formations will be without obscuration, and consciousness will be without obscuration. Similarly, even until the sacred Dharma widely abides, there will be no obscuration. Why is that? Because this Bodhisattva-Mahasattva has not apprehended form from the beginning, nor has apprehended feeling, perception, mental formations, and consciousness. Similarly, even up to the all-knowingness, they have not apprehended. Why is that? Subhuti, because whatever form is unapprehendable, that is not form. Likewise, whatever feeling, perception, mental formations, and consciousness are unapprehendable, that is not consciousness. Similarly, even up to the all-knowingness, whatever is unapprehendable, that is not all-knowingness. When this abiding of the Bodhisattva was taught, two thousand Bodhisattvas attained forbearance of the unborn Dharma. This is said to be the supreme excellence of the Dharma, which is consistent with the aspect of definite liberation for these beings. The irreversible Sangha. After this was spoken, the Venerable Subhuti said to the Blessed One: "Blessed One, what is the aspect of a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who is irreversible? What is the sign? What is the characteristic? Blessed One, how can we

Please know that this Bodhisattva-Mahasattva is irreversible. After this request, the Blessed One said to the venerable Subhuti: Subhuti, here, all the explanations about the ground of ordinary beings, the ground of Sravakas, the ground of Pratyekabuddhas, the ground of Bodhisattvas, and the ground of Tathagatas, are all no different from Suchness, without change, without distinction, and cannot be divided into two. Because Suchness has no distinctions, one should not distinguish like that, and only by not distinguishing can one enter in this way. Having entered in this way, having heard Suchness as it is, and having transcended it, for Suchness, there is no singularity, no duality, and no non-duality, and one does not make any distinctions. This is not just saying something randomly, but speaking meaningful words, not speaking meaningless words. Not looking at what others have done or not done, but seeking words of praise. Subhuti, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who possesses these forms, these signs, and these characteristics should be known as irreversible. This is a general indication of irreversibility. Subhuti asked: Blessed One, by how many forms, how many signs, and how many characteristics can one know that a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva is irreversible? The Blessed One replied: Subhuti, all dharmas are without form, without signs, and without characteristics. After saying this, the venerable Subhuti said to the Blessed One: Blessed One, if all dharmas have no form, no signs, and no characteristics, then relying on what kind of dharma is it said that a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva is irreversible? The Blessed One replied: Subhuti, if a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva turns away from form, turns away from feeling, turns away from perception, turns away from formations, and turns away from consciousness, then that Bodhisattva-Mahasattva
