Not being grasped by the supernormal powers, not being grasped by the five supernormal knowledges, not being grasped by the noble truths and the four concentrations and the four immeasurables, not being grasped by the four formless absorptions, not being grasped by the eight liberations, not being grasped by the nine successive abidings, not being grasped by the emptiness liberation gate and the signlessness and the wishlessness, not being grasped by the ten powers of the Thus-Gone One and the four fearlessnesses and the four analytical knowledges and the eighteen unshared qualities of a Buddha, up to and including not being grasped by the all-knowingness, then those sons or daughters of good family of the Bodhisattva Vehicle, it should be known that they will gradually change in the intermediate state. Subhuti, what is the gradual change in the intermediate state for those sons or daughters of good family of the Bodhisattva Vehicle? It is like this: the Hearer's Ground or the Solitary Buddha's Ground. Subhuti, it is like this, for example, if a man or woman uses a new and well-made pot to draw water from a river, lake, pond, or well, Subhuti, it should be known that the pot of that water drawer will safely return home. Similarly, if a Bodhisattva Mahasattva has faith for the sake of unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, has patience, has great joy, has superior intention, has desire, has devotion, has intention, has non-abandonment, has non-abandonment of diligence, and is grasped by the Perfection of Wisdom, is grasped by skillful means, is grasped by the Perfection of Concentration, is grasped by the Perfection of Diligence, is grasped by the Perfection of Patience, is grasped by the Perfection of Morality, is grasped by the Perfection of Generosity, similarly, up to and including being grasped by the all-knowingness, Subhuti, then that Bodhisattva Mahasattva will not gradually change in the intermediate state to the Hearer's Ground or the Solitary Buddha's Ground, but will attain unsurpassed, perfect, and complete

That which will become perfectly enlightened into enlightenment is called the characteristic of the support, the first moment of the path. Subhuti, for example, if a ship that is not tied up and has not had its leaks patched is loaded with goods and put into the water, Subhuti, that ship will be destroyed in the middle, the ship will separate, and the goods will also separate, it should be known. Likewise, that merchant, because he is not skilled in means, will suffer great harm and will completely lose precious treasures, it should be known. Subhuti, likewise, a Bodhisattva, for the sake of unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment, also has faith, also has patience, also has joy, also has superior intention, also has desire, also has conviction, also has aspiration, also has non-abandonment, also has non-abandonment of diligence, however, if they are not completely grasped by the Perfection of Wisdom, not completely grasped by skillful means, not completely grasped by the Perfection of Concentration, not completely grasped by the Perfection of Diligence, not completely grasped by the Perfection of Patience, not completely grasped by the Perfection of Morality, not completely grasped by the Perfection of Generosity, not completely grasped by all emptiness, not completely grasped by the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment, not completely grasped by the immeasurables, concentrations, and formless absorptions, not completely grasped by the noble truths, not completely grasped by the eight liberations, not completely grasped by the nine successive abidings, not completely grasped by emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness, not completely grasped by all samadhis, the doors of dharani, and the superknowledges, not completely grasped by the ten powers of the Thus-Gone One, not completely grasped by the four fearlessnesses, not completely grasped by the individual perfect knowledges, and the eighteen unshared qualities of a Buddha, up to all-knowingness, Subhuti, that Bodhisattva will be close to interruption, that is, close to all-knowingness.
