Those sentient beings, whether sons or daughters of good family, if someone encourages them to attain the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Kaushika, what do you think? Does the merit of that son or daughter of good family increase greatly because of this? Indra replied: Blessed One, it is a lot. Sugata, it is a lot. The Blessed One said: Kaushika, even more so, whichever son or daughter of good family extensively tells others about this Perfection of Wisdom with meaning and letters, and correctly clarifies, explains, distinguishes, makes it clear and correctly manifests it, and says this: You should uphold this Perfection of Wisdom, fully understand it, recite it, master it, properly attend to it, and diligently practice the Perfection of Wisdom as taught. Son of good family, the more you diligently practice the Perfection of Wisdom as taught, the more you will attain omniscience. The more you attain omniscience, the more you will perfect the practice of the Perfection of Wisdom. The more you perfect the practice of the Perfection of Wisdom, the sooner you will awaken to the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. If you encourage them in this way, then their merit will greatly increase. Why is that? Kaushika, because from here arise the Bodhisattva Mahasattvas who generate the first thought. In each of the ten directions, all those Bodhisattva Mahasattvas who generate the first thought in worlds as numerous as the sands of the Ganges River, all of them necessarily arise from this very Perfection of Wisdom. This is the fifth praise. Mentioning "how many sentient beings there are in the four continents" is a praise of

Therefore, it is so. The so-called "immeasurable and countless," etc., is the seventh praise. Furthermore, Kausika, there are also the ten directions, each direction with sentient beings in worlds as numerous as the sands of the Ganges River. If there is a son or daughter of good family who encourages them towards unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, Kausika, what do you think? Does the son or daughter of good family increase their merit through this cause? Indra said: World Honored One, very much. Sugata, very much. The World Honored One said to Indra: Kausika, more than that, if there is a son or daughter of good family who fully explains and teaches this Prajnaparamita, complete with meaning and complete with words, to others, even saying: Son of good family, you should uphold the Prajnaparamita, make it clear, make it mature, make it grow, and make it properly attend to it. Son of good family, if you thus earnestly attend to the Prajnaparamita as it is said, then, son of good family, you will be able to attain all-knowing wisdom. If you thus make all-knowing wisdom complete, then you will also make the practice of Prajnaparamita complete. If you thus make the practice of Prajnaparamita complete, then you will manifest and realize unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Kausika, the merit of that son or daughter of good family increases even more. Why is that? Kausika, because the arising of those Bodhisattva Mahasattvas' minds all comes from this Prajnaparamita. In each of the ten directions, in worlds as numerous as the sands of the Ganges River, all the grounds of the Bodhisattva Mahasattvas who first generate the mind, they all come from

Because everything necessarily arises from this very Perfection of Wisdom, this is called the eighth praise. Kausika, furthermore, as many beings as there are in Jambudvipa, some of those sons or daughters of good family who have been established in the stage of non-retrogression, are not as good as the son or daughter of good family who possesses this Perfection of Wisdom with meaning and letters, extensively teaches it to others, and truly teaches it, saying: Come, son of good family, hold this Perfection of Wisdom, fully understand it, be proficient in it, be fluent in it, properly attend to it, diligently practice the Perfection of Wisdom as it has been taught. As you diligently practice the Perfection of Wisdom as it has been taught, so you will abide in the stage of non-retrogression if you train in the Perfection of Wisdom, and eventually you will awaken to unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment. Kausika, this son or daughter of good family will increase their merit even more. As many beings as there are in the four continents of the world, as many beings as there are in the thousand worlds, as many beings as there are in the two thousand intermediate worlds, as many beings as there are in the three thousand great thousand worlds, and as many beings as there are in each of the ten directions, in worlds as numerous as the sands of the Ganges River, all those sons or daughters of good family who have been established in the stage of non-retrogression are not as good as the son or daughter of good family who possesses this Perfection of Wisdom with meaning and letters, extensively teaches it to others, and truly teaches it, saying: Come, son of good family, hold this Perfection of Wisdom, fully understand it, be proficient in it, be fluent in it, properly attend to it, diligently practice the Perfection of Wisdom as it has been taught. If you diligently practice this, you will not regress.
