Venerable One, thus, this Prajñāpāramitā is endowed with great significance. Venerable One, in whatever trichiliocosm great trichiliocosm world realm there are as many sentient beings as exist, they are close to the deeds of the Buddha. Venerable One, in whatever world realm this Prajñāpāramitā will flourish, that world realm should be regarded as similar to the appearance of a Buddha. Venerable One, for example, suppose there is a priceless jewel. That great jewel possesses such qualities as these: wherever that great jewel is placed, non-humans cannot find an opportunity. Whichever man or woman is seized by a non-human, if that great jewel is shown to them, merely showing that great jewel, the non-human will quickly depart because they cannot bear the splendor of that great jewel. When that great jewel is attached to a body afflicted with bile disease, that bile will also disappear and will not increase, but will gradually subside. When that great jewel is attached to a body afflicted with wind disease, that wind will also disappear. When that great jewel is attached to a body afflicted with phlegm disease, all those phlegm diseases will also disappear. When that great jewel is attached to a body afflicted with combined diseases, that combined disease will subside and will not increase. At night, that great jewel illuminates. In the hot season, wherever that great jewel is placed, that place will become cool. In the cold season, wherever that great jewel is placed, that place will become warm. Wherever that great jewel is placed, that place will not be too hot or too cold, but will become comfortable and pleasant. Wherever that great jewel is placed in a place where danger may exist, snakes or scorpions, etc.

The gapa-can will not become an obstacle. Chapter Thirty-Three. If a certain man or woman is seized by a venomous snake, if a great precious jewel is shown to him, as soon as he sees it, that poison will also disappear. Blessed One, that great precious jewel will possess such qualities that if a certain man or woman is afflicted by various diseases, if that great precious jewel is attached to their bodies, all of their diseases will be pacified. Blessed One, when that great precious jewel is placed in water, at that time all of the water will become like the color of gold. Blessed One, if that great precious jewel is wrapped in blue cloth and placed in water, the water will also become blue. If that great precious jewel is wrapped in yellow, red, madder, or crystal-colored cloth and placed in water, the water will also become that color. If that great precious jewel is wrapped in cloth of various colors and placed in water, the water will also become various colors. Blessed One, if that great precious jewel is placed in turbid water, all of the water will become very clear, and that great precious jewel will possess such qualities. Then, the venerable Ananda said to Indra, the lord of the gods: Kauśika, what do you think? Is that great precious jewel a divine substance? Or do the people of Jambudvipa also have that great precious jewel? Indra said: Venerable Ananda, that great precious jewel is a divine substance. The great precious jewel that the people of Jambudvipa have is small and heavy, while the great precious jewel that is a divine substance is large and light. The precious jewels of those people of Jambudvipa do not have such complete qualities. Those precious jewels of Jambudvipa cannot even approach the number of the divine precious jewel.

It cannot be measured, it cannot be counted, it cannot be compared, nor can it be approached as a cause. Furthermore, like a great precious jewel placed in a certain container, when that great precious jewel is taken out of that container, people will cherish that container because that great precious jewel resides there. World Honored One, similarly, wherever this Prajnaparamita abides, the physical or mental suffering of those sons or daughters of good family, as well as all harm caused by humans or non-humans, will disappear. This so-called great precious jewel is the excellent expression of Prajnaparamita and the wisdom of all aspects. Venerable Ananda, how much merit of Prajnaparamita can be described? The merit of Prajnaparamita is immeasurable. Similarly, the relics of the Tathagata are the perfection of meditation, the perfection of diligence, the perfection of patience, the perfection of morality, the perfection of generosity, and emptiness of the interior, up to the emptiness of the nature of non-entity; also mindfulness, right abandonment, miraculous feet, faculties, powers, branches of enlightenment, noble path, immeasurables, meditation, formless attainments, noble truths, eight liberations, nine successive abidings, superknowledges, samadhis, gateways of dharani, the ten powers of the Tathagata, the four fearlessnesses, the four analytical knowledges, the eighteen unshared qualities of the Buddha, up to the wisdom of all-knowingness, as well as the realm of dharma, the stainlessness of dharma-nature, suchness, the ultimate reality, the inconceivable realm, and all-knowing wisdom, are the containers of these qualities. Therefore, one should make offerings with the relics of the Tathagata after his Nirvana.
