Let alone being filled with stupas of the departed! Kauśika, how many sentient beings are there in the three-thousand great thousand world realms? Each of those sentient beings, for the sake of offering to the Tathāgata after his complete nirvāṇa, makes stupas of seven precious materials, each a yojana in height, and serves them with divine flowers, incense, scents, garlands, unguents, powders, clothes, umbrellas, banners, and many flags. They treat them as supreme, attend to them, make offerings to them, respect them, and honor them. Kauśika, what do you think? Would those sentient beings increase their merit greatly from that basis? Indra replied: Bhagavan, much so! Sugata, much so! The Bhagavan said: Kauśika, even more so, any son or daughter of good family who, taking this Perfection of Wisdom, even in a small form, puts it into a book and then upholds it, explains it, recites it, fully understands it, properly attends to it, and without separating from the mind of all-knowingness, serves it with flowers, incense, scents, garlands, unguents, powders, clothes, umbrellas, banners, and bells, treats it as supreme, attends to it, makes offerings to it, respects it, and honors it—this itself will increase merit greatly. After he spoke thus, Indra, lord of the gods, said this to the Bhagavan: Bhagavan, it is so. Sugata, it is so. Bhagavan, to serve, treat as supreme, attend to, and make offerings to the Perfection of Wisdom is to serve, treat as supreme, attend to, and make offerings to all the Buddhas, the Bhagavatans, who have appeared in the past, will appear in the future, and appear in the present. In the world realms of the eastern direction, as many as the sands of the Ganges River, however many sentient beings exist, each of those sentient beings, for the sake of offering to the Tathāgata after his complete nirvāṇa,

After that, having made stupas of seven precious substances, each with a height of one yojana, and for those stupas, for a kalpa or more than a kalpa, making offerings with flowers, incense, scents, garlands, unguents, powders, clothes, umbrellas, victory banners, flags, and musical instruments of the gods, regarding them as teachers, regarding them as places of respect, regarding them as offerings, regarding them as remembrances, regarding them as honors, then, Blessed One, would that son of good family or daughter of good family increase much merit from that basis? Similarly, in the south, west, north, below, above, and in each of the intermediate directions, in worlds as numerous as the grains of sand in the Ganges River, however many sentient beings there are, each of those sentient beings, after the Tathagata has completely passed into nirvana, for the sake of offering, having made stupas of seven precious substances, each with a height of one yojana, and for those stupas, for a kalpa or more than a kalpa, making offerings with flowers, incense, scents, garlands, unguents, powders, clothes, umbrellas, victory banners, flags, and musical instruments, regarding them as teachers, regarding them as places of respect, regarding them as offerings, regarding them as remembrances, regarding them as honors, then, would that son of good family or daughter of good family increase much merit from that basis? The Blessed One said: Kauśika, it is just so, it is just so. Indra requested: Blessed One, in comparison, if a son of good family or daughter of good family writes this Prajñāpāramitā in a book, and holds it, recites it, reads it, completely understands it, and makes offerings to it with flowers, incense, scents, garlands, unguents, powders, clothes, umbrellas, victory banners, flags, and musical instruments, regards it as a teacher, regards it as a place of respect, regards it as an offering, regards it as a remembrance, regards it as an honor, then, this son of good family or daughter of good family, compared to the previous son of good family or daughter of good family, will increase much more merit, Blessed One, because all virtuous dharmas are contained within this Prajñāpāramitā. For example, the ten virtues.

This is what the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, have taught, and it is what the Bodhisattvas, Pratyekabuddhas, and Shravakas of the past, future, and present must learn in order to be liberated. Thus, liberation is certain, thus, liberation is certain. Then, the Bhagavat said to Indra, the lord of the gods: Kauśika, it is so, it is so. Any son or daughter of good family who writes down this Perfection of Wisdom and places it in a book, and holds it, explains it, recites it, comprehends it, attends to it properly, and offers flowers, incense, perfume, garlands, unguents, powders, clothes, umbrellas, banners, and many flags, regards it as a teacher, respects it, honors it, reveres it, remembers it, and venerates it, then the merit he obtains from that basis is immeasurable, countless, inconceivable, and incomparable.
