He does not practice the Perfection of Wisdom for the sake of that emptiness itself. He does not practice the Perfection of Wisdom for the sake of great emptiness. He does not practice the Perfection of Wisdom for the sake of ultimate emptiness. He does not practice the Perfection of Wisdom for the sake of conditioned emptiness. He does not practice the Perfection of Wisdom for the sake of unconditioned emptiness. He does not practice the Perfection of Wisdom for the sake of emptiness beyond extremes. He does not practice the Perfection of Wisdom for the sake of emptiness without beginning and end. He does not practice the Perfection of Wisdom for the sake of emptiness without abandonment. He does not practice the Perfection of Wisdom for the sake of intrinsic emptiness. He does not practice the Perfection of Wisdom for the sake of the emptiness of all phenomena. He does not practice the Perfection of Wisdom for the sake of emptiness of self-nature. He does not practice the Perfection of Wisdom for the sake of emptiness of non-perception. He does not practice the Perfection of Wisdom for the sake of emptiness of non-existence. He does not practice the Perfection of Wisdom for the sake of emptiness of essence. He does not practice the Perfection of Wisdom for the sake of emptiness of the essence of non-existence. He does not practice the Perfection of Wisdom for the sake of suchness. He does not practice the Perfection of Wisdom for the sake of the realm of phenomena. He does not practice the Perfection of Wisdom for the sake of the ultimate reality. Why is that? Because the Bodhisattva Mahasattva who practices the Perfection of Wisdom does not truly see any phenomena as being different. Shariputra, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva who thus practices the Perfection of Wisdom does not practice the Perfection of Wisdom for the sake of the divine eye. He does not practice the Perfection of Wisdom for the sake of the divine ear. He does not practice the Perfection of Wisdom for the sake of knowing the minds of others. He does not practice the Perfection of Wisdom for the sake of past abodes.

He does not practice the Perfection of Wisdom for the sake of remembrance. He does not practice the Perfection of Wisdom for the sake of accomplishing magical powers. He does not practice the Perfection of Wisdom for the sake of the wisdom of the exhaustion of defilements. Why is that? Because when he practices the Perfection of Wisdom in this way, he does not even see the Perfection of Wisdom itself as truly existing. How much less then any of the superknowledges of a Bodhisattva? Shariputra, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva who practices the Perfection of Wisdom in this way is said to be diligent. Shariputra, furthermore, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, he does not think, 'I will know with my divine eye the death and rebirth of beings in the eastern world-systems as numerous as the sands of the Ganges.' He will hear their sounds with his divine ear. He will know their minds with his mind. He will remember their former abodes, and having gone forth by means of magical power, he will teach them the Dharma.' Shariputra, likewise, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva does not think, 'I will know with my divine eye the death and rebirth of beings in the southern world-systems as numerous as the sands of the Ganges.' He will hear their sounds with his divine ear. He will know their minds with his mind.
