He fully understands purity as it is. Regarding the unsurpassed mind, he fully understands what is called the unsurpassed mind as it is. Knowing the minds of others, he does not become conceited, because that mind itself is inconceivable. There is no conceit in saying, "I know it." Thus, because of emptiness of inherent existence, because of the absence of inherent existence, and because of the non-apprehension of inherent existence, the mind by which conceit would arise is not apprehended. Except for keeping in mind omniscience itself, he does not even generate the thought of wanting to know the mind or the thought of manifestly accomplishing knowing the mind. Shariputra, In this way, the bodhisattva mahasattva, practicing the Perfection of Wisdom, manifests the wisdom of clairvoyance in order to manifest the conduct of the minds of all sentient beings. With the clairvoyance of remembering previous abodes, he also remembers one birth. He also remembers from two and three births up to hundreds of thousands of births. He also remembers from remembering one mind up to a hundred minds. From one day to a hundred days, from one month to a hundred months, from one year to a hundred years, from one kalpa to a hundred kalpas, from many hundreds of kalpas to many thousands of kalpas, from many hundreds of thousands of millions of kalpas, he remembers up to the limit of the past. I used to live in such and such a place, my name was such and such, my clan was such and such, my lineage was such and such, I ate such and such food, I lived for such and such a time, the end of my life was such and such, I died from there and was born in such and such a place, and from there I died and was born here, remembering in detail, with teachings, and with explanations, the various previous abodes of himself and others. With the wisdom of clairvoyance that manifests the remembrance of previous abodes, he also does not become conceited, because that wisdom is not wisdom, because it is inconceivable. It is not mine.

nor does he become arrogant thinking, "I know." Why? Because, in this way, he does not perceive such wisdom that could become a source of arrogance, since that wisdom itself is empty of inherent existence, is devoid of inherent existence, and is unobservable in inherent existence. He does not generate even a mere thought of recollecting previous lives, or even a thought of manifestly accomplishing the recollection of previous lives, except for keeping in mind the state of omniscience itself. Shariputra, thus, when a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva engages in the Perfection of Wisdom, he manifestly accomplishes the wisdom of clairvoyance for the purpose of manifestly recollecting previous lives. With the divine eye, which is perfectly pure and transcends the human, he thoroughly knows beings who are dying and being reborn, and those who are beautiful and those who are ugly, those who are good and those who are bad, and those who are approaching happy and unhappy destinies according to their actions. He thoroughly knows, "These beings are endowed with bad conduct of body, endowed with bad conduct of speech, and endowed with bad conduct of mind; they slander the noble ones and hold wrong views. Because of the cause of having properly undertaken the actions of wrong views, after the disintegration of their bodies, upon death, they are born in the bad realms, the bad destinies, the places of wrong downfall, in the hells of sentient beings." Those beings are endowed with good conduct of body, endowed with good conduct of speech, and endowed with good conduct of mind; they do not slander the noble ones and hold right views. Because of the cause of good conduct of body, speech, and mind, after the disintegration of their bodies, upon death, they will be born in the happy realms, in the world of the gods in the heavens." Thus, with the divine eye, which is perfectly pure and transcends the human, he thoroughly knows the birth and death and transmigration of sentient beings belonging to the six realms in all the world realms of the ten directions, which are pervaded by the sphere of Dharma and extend to the limits of space, just as they are. He also does not become arrogant because of this. Why? Because that eye is not an eye and is inconceivable. He does not become arrogant thinking, "I see," because it is empty of inherent existence and of inherent existence.

For the sake of benefit and because self-nature is unobtainable, the eye that gives rise to pride is unobtainable. That is, apart from focusing on omniscience, not even the thought of divine eye or the thought of attaining divine eye arises. Shariputra, in this way, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, practicing the Perfection of Wisdom, attains the wisdom of superknowledge to manifest the divine eye. He attains the wisdom of superknowledge that manifests non-arising, and does not fall into the ground of Hearers or Solitary Buddhas. Apart from thinking of attaining unsurpassed perfect enlightenment and becoming a Buddha, he does not desire any other Dharma. He is skilled in attaining the wisdom of superknowledge to manifest the exhaustion of outflows, and he is not proud. Because of this, that wisdom is not wisdom, because it is inconceivable. He does not have the pride of "I completely know," because of this, because of the emptiness of self-nature, because of the tranquility of self-nature, because of the unobtainability of self-nature, the wisdom of superknowledge to manifest the exhaustion of outflows that gives rise to pride is unobtainable. That is, apart from focusing on omniscience, not even the thought of the wisdom of the exhaustion of outflows, or the thought of attaining the wisdom to manifest the exhaustion of outflows arises. In this way, Shariputra, when the Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, he attains the wisdom of superknowledge to manifest the exhaustion of outflows. Shariputra, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, practicing the Perfection of Wisdom in this way, perfects and purifies the six superknowledges. Shariputra, the perfection and purification of superknowledge can initiate all-knowingness. Shariputra, when the Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, he abides in the Perfection of Giving and clings to emptiness that transcends boundaries.
