This is called the difference of the small object and aspect belonging to the peak. Why is that? O Blessed One, thus, all-knowingness is not to be taken as a sign, for a sign is an affliction. Union, taking, existence, birth, old age and death are characteristics. Giving paramita is a characteristic. Moral discipline paramita, patience paramita, diligence paramita, meditation paramita, wisdom paramita are characteristics. Inner emptiness is a characteristic. Outer emptiness, inner and outer emptiness are characteristics. The space between the nature of non-things and emptiness is a characteristic. Mindfulness is a characteristic. Right abandonment, miraculous feet, faculties, powers, seven branches of enlightenment, The eightfold noble path, paramitas, supernormal knowledge, letters, ten powers, fearlessness, individual perfect knowledge, unmixed Buddha dharmas, emptiness, signlessness, wishlessness, the realm of dharma, the determination of dharma in dharmata, the ultimate reality is a characteristic, this is said to be affliction. If the Perfection of Wisdom is also taken as a characteristic, then in this teaching of the Wandering Garland, faith in the wisdom of omniscience will not arise. What is faith? It is the generation of superior faith in the Perfection of Wisdom, realization, conviction, attention, measurement, and examination. This is not in the manner of characteristics, nor in the manner of non-characteristics, thus it is taken as non-characteristics. Thus, since there is no grasping with characteristics and non-characteristics, it is said that it is not grasping. Here, the Wandering Garland, following the faithful, entered with superficial knowledge due to increased faith. After entering, he did not grasp form, feeling, perception, formations, nor did he grasp consciousness. Why is that? Thus, in order not to pay attention to characteristics, he did not grasp any dharma among the dharmas that are empty of their own nature. Why is that? Thus, he

That consciousness, the attainment and realization of the inner, has not been truly seen. That consciousness, the attainment and realization of the outer, has not been truly seen. That consciousness, the attainment and realization of the inner and outer, has not been truly seen. That consciousness, the attainment and realization other than that, has not been truly seen. Why is that? Thus, by what does it know, or by what does it cognize, or the dharma by which it knows, that also has not been truly seen. Why is that? Thus, that consciousness is the inner form, it has not been truly seen. That consciousness is the inner feeling, it has not been truly seen. That consciousness is the inner perception, it has not been truly seen. That consciousness is the inner formations, it has not been truly seen. That consciousness is the inner consciousness, it has not been truly seen. That consciousness is the outer form, it has not been truly seen. That consciousness is the outer feeling and the outer perception and the outer formations, that consciousness is the outer consciousness, it has not been truly seen. That consciousness is the inner and outer form, it has not been truly seen. That consciousness is the inner and outer feeling and the inner and outer perception and the inner and outer formations, that consciousness is the inner and outer consciousness, it has not been truly seen. Because of the emptiness of inner and outer, that consciousness apart from form, has not been truly seen. That consciousness apart from feeling and perception and formations, that consciousness apart from consciousness, has not been truly seen. To this category of place, the wandering garland became devoted. Having become devoted to this, following after faith, because all dharmas are unobservable, taking dharmata as the measure, he entered into the wisdom of all-knowingness. Having become devoted in that way, in order not to attend to signs, he did not completely grasp any dharma. All dharmas are ungraspable.
