English
A term with meaning, like what is called a Bodhisattva, cannot be expressed by any of the aggregates, elements, or sense bases, nor by any of the eighteen unshared qualities of a Buddha. It is merely designated as a dharma. World Honored One, for example, the name called 'dream' cannot be expressed by anything. The names 'illusion,' 'reflection,' 'cataract,' 'mirage,' 'moon in water,' and 'emanation of the Thus-Gone One' cannot be expressed by anything. World Honored One, for example, the names 'earth,' 'water,' 'fire,' 'wind,' and 'space' cannot be expressed by anything. World Honored One, for example, the names called 'ethics,' 'concentration,' 'wisdom,' 'liberation,' and 'knowledge and vision of liberation' cannot be expressed by anything. The name called 'stream-enterer' cannot be expressed by anything. The names called 'once-returner,' 'non-returner,' 'Arhat,' and 'Solitary Buddha,' up to the dharma of a Bodhisattva, and the names called 'Thus-Gone One,' 'Buddha,' 'Suchness,' and 'all the dharmas of the Buddhas' cannot be expressed by anything, whether virtuous or non-virtuous, with or without fault, pleasant or painful, with self or without self, peaceful or unpeaceful, secluded or unsecluded, with characteristics or without characteristics, existent or nonexistent. World Honored One, I also see this meaning. If I were to say that I have not understood, have not perceived, and have not truly seen all dharmas, yet I gather and establish them merely by the name of 'Bodhisattva' or 'Perfection of Wisdom,' that would become my regret. World Honored One, although that is so, the name is neither abiding, nor non-abiding, nor separate from abiding, nor not separate from abiding. Why is that? Because there is no name, therefore the name is neither abiding nor non-abiding.

Sir, it is not abiding in abiding, it is not separated from not abiding, it is not abiding in not separated from not abiding. World Honored One, if when the Prajnaparamita is taught in this way, the mind of the Bodhisattva Mahasattva does not shrink, does not fear, does not regret in his heart, does not panic, is not universally afraid, is not controlled by universal fear, then know that this must be because the Bodhisattva Mahasattva abides in the manner of not abiding in the ground of the irreversible Bodhisattva, this is called the difference of the great object belonging to the heat and the difference of the aspect. The difference of the great object belonging to the summit and the difference of the aspect. World Honored One, moreover, when the Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the Prajnaparamita, he does not abide in form, he does not abide in feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness. He does not abide in the eye, he does not abide in the ear, nose, tongue, body, and mind. He does not abide in form, he does not abide in sound, smell, taste, touch, and dharma. He does not abide in eye consciousness, he does not abide in ear consciousness, nose consciousness, tongue consciousness, body consciousness, and mind consciousness. He does not abide in eye contact, he does not abide in the feeling born from the cause of eye contact. He does not abide in ear contact, he does not abide in the feeling born from the cause of ear contact. He does not abide in nose contact, he does not abide in the feeling born from the cause of nose contact. He does not abide in tongue contact, he does not abide in the feeling born from the cause of tongue contact. He does not abide in body contact, he does not abide in the feeling born from the cause of body contact. He does not abide in mind contact, he does not abide in the feeling born from the cause of mind contact. He does not abide in the earth element, he does not abide in the water element, the fire element, the wind element, the space element, and the consciousness element.

I do not. Therefore, I do not abide in ignorance. I do not abide in formations, consciousness, name, form, the six sense sources, contact, feeling, craving, grasping, becoming, birth, old age and death, sorrow, lamentation, suffering, displeasure, and distress. Why is that? Blessed One, Thus, form is empty of form, feeling is empty of feeling, perception is empty of perception, formations are empty of formations, consciousness is empty of consciousness. Blessed One, what is the emptiness of form, that is not form, and there is no form other than emptiness, form itself is emptiness, emptiness itself is form. Blessed One, what is the emptiness of feeling, that is not feeling, and there is no feeling other than emptiness, feeling itself is emptiness, emptiness itself is feeling. Blessed One, what is the emptiness of perception, that is not perception, and there is no perception other than emptiness, perception itself is emptiness, emptiness itself is perception. Blessed One, what is the emptiness of formations, that is not formations, and there are no formations other than emptiness, formations themselves are emptiness, emptiness itself is formations. Blessed One, what is the emptiness of consciousness, that is not consciousness, and there is no consciousness other than emptiness, consciousness itself is emptiness, emptiness itself is consciousness. Blessed One, in that way, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, practicing the Perfection of Wisdom, does not abide in form, does not abide in feeling, perception, formations, and consciousness. Blessed One, thus, the eye is empty of the eye, what is the emptiness of the eye, that is not the eye, and there is no eye other than emptiness, the eye itself is emptiness, emptiness itself is the eye. The ear is empty of the ear, what is the emptiness of the ear, that is not the ear, and there is no ear
