O venerable one, in any case, form should be known, but one should not be arrogant with form. Feeling, perception, formations, and consciousness should be known, but one should not be arrogant with them. The eye should be known, but one should not be arrogant with the eye. Similarly, the ear, nose, tongue, body, and mind should be known, but one should not be arrogant with them. Form should be known, but one should not be arrogant with it. Sound, smell, taste, touch, and phenomena should be known, but one should not be arrogant with them. The perfection of generosity should be known, but one should not be arrogant with it. The perfection of discipline, the perfection of patience, the perfection of diligence, the perfection of meditation, and the perfection of wisdom should be known, but one should not be arrogant with the perfection of wisdom. Similarly, the five supernormal knowledges, the five eyes, and the mindfulnesses should be known, but one should not be arrogant with them. The ninth chapter, the four right abandonments, the foundations of miraculous power, the faculties, the powers, the limbs of enlightenment, and the eightfold noble path should be known, but one should not be arrogant with them. The ten powers of the Tathagata, the four fearlessnesses, the four analytical knowledges, and the eighteen unshared qualities of a Buddha should be known, but one should not be arrogant with them. O venerable Shariputra, thus, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, the so-called Bodhicitta should be known, the so-called unequal and equal, the so-called great mind should be known, but one should not be arrogant with them. Why is that? Because this mind is not mind, for the nature of mind is luminosity. Shariputra said: O venerable Subhuti, what is the luminous nature of mind? Subhuti said: O venerable Shariputra, the mind that is associated with desire is not separate from desire, associated with hatred is not

It is not separate, it is not associated with ignorance, it is not separate. It is not associated with all arising, it is not separate. Shariputra said: Venerable Subhuti, does the so-called mindless mind exist? Subhuti said: Venerable Shariputra, is that which is mindless itself, existent or non-existent, existent or observable? Shariputra said: Venerable Subhuti, it is not so. Subhuti said: Venerable Shariputra, if that which is mindless itself is non-existent, or non-existent, or unobservable, then Venerable Shariputra, is it appropriate to say or ask, 'Does the so-called mindless mind exist?' Shariputra said: Venerable Subhuti, what is that which is mindless itself? Subhuti said: Venerable Shariputra, that which is the suchness of phenomena, unchanging and without discrimination, that is mindless, this is what is called mindless. Shariputra said: Venerable Subhuti, since the mind is unchanging and without discrimination, is form also unchanging and without discrimination? Is feeling also unchanging and without discrimination? Is it so? Is the realm of nose, the realm of smell, and the realm of nose consciousness also without change and without discrimination? Is the realm of tongue, the realm of taste, and the realm of tongue consciousness also without change and without discrimination? Is the realm of body, the realm of touch, and the realm of body consciousness also without change and without discrimination? Is the realm of mind, the realm of dharmas, and the realm of mind consciousness also without change and without discrimination? Likewise, are the ayatanas, the dhatus, dependent origination, the perfections, the superknowledges, the mindfulness, the right abandonments, the legs of magical power, the faculties, the powers, the limbs of enlightenment, the noble eightfold path, the ten powers of the Tathagata, the four fearlessnesses, the four analytical knowledges, and the unshared qualities of the Buddhas, up to unsurpassed perfect and complete enlightenment, without change and without discrimination? Subhuti said: Venerable Sariputra, it is just so. Just as the mind is without change and without discrimination, so too are the skandhas, the dhatus, the ayatanas, dependent origination, the perfections, the superknowledges, the dharmas of the aspects of enlightenment, the ten powers of the Tathagata, the four fearlessnesses, the four analytical knowledges, and the eighteen unshared qualities of the Buddhas, up to unsurpassed perfect and complete enlightenment, also without change and without discrimination. Then, the Venerable Sariputra gave praise to the Venerable Subhuti, saying: Venerable Subhuti, well done, well done! In this way, you are also a son of the Bhagavan, born from his mind, born from his mouth, born from the Dharma, an emanation of the Dharma, enjoying the share of the Dharma and not enjoying the share of material possessions, possessing the eye of direct perception, and are called one who has realized the dharmas with his body, like the most excellent of those who abide without afflictions.
