In the manner of an object of focus. A Bodhisattva Mahasattva generates the mind in this way. Just as one says 'I, I,' but that is in all places, all, in all ways, all are non-existent and unattainable, likewise, one also generates understanding towards both internal and external phenomena. Although understanding is generated in this way, difficult understanding is not generated. Why is that? It is because one does not take up any dharma, because it is unattainable. Shariputra, endowed with life, I do not desire a Tathagata in the unborn. Nor do I desire unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment. Nor do I desire to turn the wheel of dharma. Nor do I desire the unborn obtained by the unborn dharma. He said: Shariputra, endowed with life, is the born obtained by the unborn dharma, or is the unborn obtained by the born dharma? Subhuti said: Shariputra, endowed with life, I do not desire the unborn obtained by the born dharma, nor do I desire the born obtained by the unborn dharma. He said: Shariputra, endowed with life, is there then no attainment and no realization? Subhuti said: Shariputra, endowed with life, there is attainment and there is realization, but they are not two. Shariputra, endowed with life, attainment or realization is designated by worldly convention. Stream-enterer, once-returner, non-returner, Arhat, Pratyekabuddha, Bodhisattva, or even Buddha, are also designated by worldly convention. In ultimate truth, there is no attainment or realization, nor is there a stream-enterer, once-returner, non-returner, Arhat, Pratyekabuddha, Bodhisattva, or even Buddha. Shariputra said: Subhuti, endowed with life, can one speak of the unborn dharma as the unborn dharma? Subhuti said: Shariputra, endowed with life, does one dare to speak of the unborn dharma as the unborn dharma? Shariputra, endowed with life, I do not even have the courage to speak of the unborn dharma. Why is that? Shariputra, endowed with life, like this, unborn.

What kind of dharma is it, what kind of fearlessness is it, what kind of speech is it, what kind of unborn is it, all these dharmas are neither possessed nor not possessed, neither corporeal nor visible, without obstruction, one nature, that is, without self-nature. Shariputra said: Venerable Subhuti, speech is also unborn, fearlessness is also unborn, dharma is also unborn, from what does it arise that those dharmas of fearlessness are also unborn? Subhuti said: Venerable Shariputra, it is just so, speech is unborn, fearlessness is unborn, dharma is unborn, from what does it arise that speech and fearlessness are also unborn? Why is that? Venerable Shariputra, for example, form is unborn, feeling, perception, volition, and consciousness are unborn, likewise, the individual and collective sources of arising, realms, dependent origination, perfections, the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment, all emptiness, meditation, immeasurables, formless absorptions, supernormal knowledges, samadhi, dharani gates, powers, fearlessnesses, separate correct knowledges, the eighteen unshared qualities of a Buddha are unborn. Stream-enterer, once-returner, non-returner, Arhat, Pratyekabuddha, Bodhisattva, all-knowing, all-knowingness are also unborn.

From there, it is similarly established that there is no birth until all-knowingness. Thus, in worldly convention, the five destinies are different, but in ultimate reality, they are not. Shariputra said: Venerable Subhuti, just as attainment and realization exist in worldly convention, are the five destinies also different in worldly convention? Are they not in ultimate reality? He said: Venerable Shariputra, it is just so. Just as attainment and realization exist in worldly convention, the five destinies are also different in worldly convention, but they are not in ultimate reality. Why is that? Venerable Shariputra, in ultimate reality, there is no karma, no ripening of karma, no birth, no cessation, no affliction, and no purification. He said: Venerable Subhuti, will an unborn dharma be born? Or will a born dharma be born? Subhuti said: Venerable Shariputra, I do not wish for an unborn dharma to be born, nor do I wish for a born dharma to be born. First, the chapter of Subhuti concerning all-knowingness. Preface. Sanskrit: Pañcaviṃśatisāhasrikāprajñāpāramitā. (The Twenty-Five Thousand Verse Prajñāpāramitā). Volume 1. Homage to all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Those who seek peace, the Hearers, are led to near peace by the all-knowing, and those who benefit beings, accomplish the world's purpose with the path-knowing. Those with whom the Thus-Gone Ones are perfectly endowed, who have spoken of this manifold all-endowed, I pay homage to the Mother of the Buddhas, together with the assembly of Hearers and Bodhisattvas. Those sons of the Conquerors who have made their minds on enlightenment in order to liberate all beings without exception, and those who, having realized individual enlightenment, again practice the unequaled, and the disciples and those who walk the path of disciples, those beings who have subdued the afflictions, may all of them come here with joyful minds to listen to the holy Dharma! Because this time is not like that due to many impurities.
