As for the realm of the path to enlightenment, the eye is the eye of the Buddha. In this sutra, it is said: Shariputra, as soon as a Bodhisattva Mahasattva generates the mind of enlightenment, he abides in a samadhi like a vajra, in order to attain omniscience, and so on. There is no such thing as an eye that has not seen a Bodhisattva, has not heard of a Bodhisattva, has not remembered a Bodhisattva, has not directly realized a Bodhisattva, and has not known omniscience. As it is said: By understanding the Prajnaparamita, all virtuous dharmas are gathered. As it is said: Shariputra, in the Prajnaparamita, all virtuous dharmas are gathered, this is the truth. Why is that? Thus, the Prajnaparamita can generate all Paramitas. After teaching the five eyes, the six superknowledges should be taught. Among them, what is taught by empowering the Abhijna of miraculous power is: the earth also shakes, and so on. It means that those are accomplished by miraculous power. In this sutra, it is said: As it is said, if one practices various miraculous powers separately, the earth can also be shaken, one can also be transformed into many, and so on. It is so declared. The mind of its object is blocked. It means that the miraculous power is unattainable, in whom one should be arrogant, and in whom one should not be arrogant, and so on, it is so declared. Likewise, the divine ear, knowing the minds of others, and the Abhijna of remembering past lives should also be truly held. Also, the divine eye and the knowledge of the exhaustion of defilements should also be manifested. When everything abides like an illusion, the mind of the object is blocked there, and at all times one should also pay attention to being endowed with omniscience, thus the Abhijna should be declared as stated in the sutra. Also, why is the teaching declared on Abhijna? It is said that because the Abhijna is completely purified, it can induce omniscience. As it is said: Abhijna

It is said that perfect purity leads to the creation of omniscience. Furthermore, after subduing the trainable beings with superknowledge, one abides in any of the six perfections, such as generosity, and by causing them to abandon the opposing aspects of that perfection, one completely trains in the path of omniscience, as has been shown. Because each stage of the perfections completely trains in the path of omniscience. As it is said: To practice the Perfection of Wisdom is to abide in the Perfection of Generosity and also to train in the path of omniscience. Taking hold of utter emptiness without grasping, likewise taking hold without fault, likewise taking hold of non-disturbance, and so forth, as has been said. The opposing aspects of the antidotes such as generosity are designated as the incompatible aspects, that is, as it is said: For generosity, one designates complete grasping; for discipline, one designates grasping at the violation of discipline, and so forth, as has been said. The meaning of the remaining superknowledges is not differentiated because it is easy to understand. Having shown the instructions on the six superknowledges, the instructions on the path of seeing should be stated, which is taught through the blessing of the Venerable Subhūti. That is to say, the Venerable Subhūti, through skillful means, taught the Perfection of Wisdom himself from his own mouth, as it is said: Shariputra, the Tathagata himself teaches the Perfection of Wisdom to the Bodhisattva Mahasattvas through skillful means, this is not the domain of all Hearers and Solitary Buddhas, as has been said. Why does he teach through the mouth of another? Because others also attain that meaning and practice it, and because it is not appropriate to grasp at oneself, it is for the purpose of abandoning faults. Why does he teach through the mouth of a Hearer? It is for the purpose of knowing that he has attained mastery over blessings. Why does he teach only through the mouth of the Venerable Subhūti? Because he

It is the supreme one who abides without afflictions, surpassing others by sharing the same qualities as those who are free from afflictions, and therefore, is a teacher who is in accordance with the path of seeing. Having done so, the venerable Subhuti, well done, well done! Just as the Tathagata has declared the Shravakas to be the supreme among those who abide without afflictions, this teaching is also similar to that, as it is said below. Among them, regarding the sixteen moments of the path of seeing, what is taught with the forbearance of the knowledge of the Dharma of suffering as the foremost is: the Prajnaparamita, the name of the Bodhisattva, the aggregates, the sources, and the elements, each of which is merely a designation. As it is said in the sutra: Subhuti, for example, although beings are referred to as beings, no being can be found at all. Whatever is a phenomenon established by name, and so on. What is taught with the knowledge of the Dharma of suffering as the foremost is: these are also obtained through investigation, therefore, birth and cessation are prevented. It is said: Whatever is a designated phenomenon, it is only a designation of name and speech, there is no birth or cessation. Otherwise, it is a nominal establishment. As it is said. What is taught as the forbearance of the subsequent knowledge of suffering is: the aggregates and so on, and the six feelings and six consciousnesses are distinguished one by one, namely, permanence and impermanence, happiness and suffering, self and non-self, peace and non-peace, emptiness and non-emptiness, having signs and not having signs, having aspirations and not having aspirations, conditioned and unconditioned, birth and cessation, solitude and non-solitude, virtue and non-virtue, with faults and without faults, with outflows and without outflows, with afflictions and without afflictions, mundane and supramundane, defilement and purification, samsara and nirvana, etc., are prevented from being seen, as it is said: Thus the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Prajnaparamita.
