Because there is no all-knowingness, therefore, emptiness, the Great Vehicle, and all dharmas do not exist, so everything is as before. Why is that? It is as before. On the ninth ground, with the medium antidote to small discriminations, that is, with the medium of the Great Vehicle, these are not perceived, so it is said. Furthermore, just as nirvana is, just as space is, the Great Vehicle has the opportunity for sentient beings as previously stated. On the tenth ground, with the small antidote to small discriminations, that is, with the great of the Great Vehicle, just like space, it is only to abide in being free from the obscuration of knowledge. This kind of manner is also spoken of in other sutras: Peaceful Wisdom, the closer it gets to unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment, the more it completely ripens immeasurable, countless, and inconceivable sentient beings. Speaking in terms of spontaneous accomplishment of definite arising, Subhuti, whatever you say, "In that Great Vehicle, going is not observed, coming is not observed, abiding is not observed," that means that there is no going, coming, or abiding, which is the acceptance of spontaneous accomplishment of definite arising. Why is that? Because all dharmas are immutable. Why is that? Because the aggregates such as form, and the eyes and so on, and the six elements such as earth, and the dharma-dhatu, and suchness, and the ultimate limit, and the inconceivable realm, and the perfections, and the dharmas favorable to enlightenment, and from the powers and so on up to the unshared dharmas of the Buddha, and perfect complete enlightenment, and the nature of the unconditioned, and suchness, and essence, and characteristics, for these, the going, coming, and abiding are prevented, by the meaning of understanding the spontaneous accomplishment of definite arising. Speaking in terms of the definite arising that transcends extremes, Subhuti, whatever you say, "In that Great Vehicle, the prior extreme is not observed, the later extreme is not observed, and the middle is not observed," because that vehicle is equal to the three times.

It is equality. Therefore, it is called the Great Vehicle. What is said in this way is to acknowledge that the equality of the three times is the definitive arising beyond limits. Why is that? Because these three times, as well as their equality, as well as the Great Vehicle, as well as the Bodhisattvas, are emptiness by their very nature. For emptiness, too, the numbers from one to ten are blocked, so for the Great Vehicle, there is equality and inequality, there is desire and freedom from desire, there is hatred and absence of hatred, there is delusion and absence of delusion, there is name and absence of name, there is virtue and non-virtue, there is defilement and absence of defilement, there is fault and absence of fault, there is affliction and absence of affliction, there is mundane and supramundane, there is complete affliction and purification, there is samsara and nirvana, there is permanence and impermanence, there is happiness and suffering, there is self and absence of self, there is peace and absence of peace, and the realms of desire and so on, and even that which is completely beyond them, are also not perceived. Why is that? Because all of these are not perceived by their very nature. What is said is that form and so on, such as the past, are emptiness by form and so on, such as the past. Why is that? Because emptiness is not perceived in emptiness, so it is impossible for form and so on, such as the past, to be perceived. By the equality of the three times, from the earliest limit and so on, up to all the perfections, there is no perception. Why is that? Because equality is not perceived in equality, so it is impossible for the past and so on and the perfections to be perceived. From mindfulness, up to the eighteen unshared qualities of the Buddha, it should be stated in the same way. Similarly, from ordinary beings to the Tathagata, there is no perception in the earliest limit and so on. Why is that? Because sentient beings are not perceived. Subhuti, this is the Great Vehicle of the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, called the equality of the three times. Having abided in this, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva
