To make it pervasive. The term "knowing" means "to awaken," hence it is said "to make it pervasive," because it awakens the minds of various beings to be tamed. For a long time, one has refrained from vulgar speech and speaks at the right time, therefore the cheeks are like a lion's, which is a sign of dignified speech. Serving with respect, not despising others, and living a completely pure life, therefore the teeth are very white and even, which is a sign of accumulating retinues in the past. For a long time, one has always used truthful and non-deceptive words, therefore the teeth are close together and one possesses forty teeth, which is a sign of the retinue not dispersing. Towards those who are close and those who scold, one has no attachment, hatred, or ignorance, and one looks with eyes free from delusion, therefore the eyes are like blue lotuses and the eyelashes are like those of a bull king, which is a sign of universal beauty, and is the same as the nature of opening the eyes and the Dharma. The thirty-two major marks of a great being have been explained. The eighty minor marks are now to be described. Therefore, it is said that the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, have no attachment to all conditioned phenomena, therefore the nails are like the color of red copper. Like oneself, benefiting all sentient beings, and constantly cherishing happiness, therefore the nails are lustrous. Born into a noble lineage, therefore the nails are high. Having no faults in conduct, therefore the fingers are round. Having accumulated vast roots of virtue, therefore the fingers are full. Having gradually and perfectly accumulated roots of virtue, therefore the fingers are gradually slender. The activities of body, speech, and mind are complete, and the pure livelihood is concealed, therefore the veins are not visible. Having untied the knots of afflictions, therefore the veins have no knots. Having a nature that is extremely well hidden, therefore the ankles are not visible. Having completely liberated from all fears, therefore the feet are even. Being a lion among humans, therefore one walks like a lion. Being an elephant king among humans, therefore one walks like an elephant. Like a king of swans, one walks in the sky, therefore one walks like a swan. One is the best among humans.
