What is the Great Vehicle of the perfection of meditation? To empower sentient beings to exhaust defilements is the Great Vehicle of the perfection of generosity. Entering into the four immeasurables is the Great Vehicle of the perfection of meditation. It is said that the perfection of discipline is the very nature of the Great Vehicle. This distinction in the order of the perfections should be understood as being made with regard to the individual who abides in the four immeasurables, because it exists in them. Moreover, the immeasurables are of four types: namely, loving-kindness, compassion, joy, and equanimity. It is extensively taught as "the mind endowed with loving-kindness," and so forth. Each of these has three aspects: focusing on sentient beings, focusing on phenomena, and without focus. Among these, focusing on sentient beings is established by four causes: namely, the very nature of cultivating closeness, the very nature of being an antidote to opposing factors, the very nature of purity, and the very nature of fully grasping the result. How is it through cultivating closeness? Because of cultivating the three pleasures. The so-called "mind endowed with loving-kindness" is close to abiding in cultivating benefit and happiness. The so-called "vast" is because of cultivating happiness in the desire realm. The so-called "becoming vast" refers to the meaning of the first and second dhyana grounds, which are accompanied by joy, because those two have joy. The so-called "non-dual" is a synonym for the third dhyana ground, which is without joy, because it is the very nature of being separated from suffering and joy. It is non-dual. The so-called "immeasurable" is because the result is immeasurable, like the confluence of the waters of the four great rivers. It should be known as immeasurable, because it possesses the happiness and so forth as previously described. Thus, close cultivation is done. How is it from the antidote of opposing factors? The so-called "without rotation" is because it is the antidote to the harmers of unpleasant close cultivation and pleasant close cultivation. How is it pure?

Because of being unmatched, it is called without obscurations, because it pacifies the obscurations of sleep, drowsiness, agitation, and regret in due order, and because it is well established. How is it that the fruit is completely grasped? It is called without harm, the ripened fruits and corresponding fruits of the form and desire realms, the fruits without harm, are completely grasped as appropriate. Thus, for the time being, it is established by the four aspects of focusing on sentient beings. Focusing on the Dharma is done by one thing called following everything, because by following everything, there are as many teachings of ordinary beings and learners who practice in the desire, form, and formless realms, and because it focuses on those who are designated as sentient beings. The term "extremely cultivated" means that it has been extremely practiced. The absence of focus is due to two causes: being pervaded by the realm of worldly phenomena, which means focusing on the nature of the world, primarily the absence of self in phenomena. Reaching the limit of the realm of space also means that the limit is completely cut off, and thus there is no focus. Furthermore, what does the mind of loving-kindness and so forth do? Therefore, it is said that the world, complete with everything, is pervaded and closely accomplished and dwells in various ways, meaning that the realm of the world, complete with everything, is pervaded by the superior intention of the superior intention and becomes enlightened. It should be known that the term "complete" means many, because the meaning of sentient beings and so forth is limitless. A long one is like the lotus woman. The term "closely accomplished and dwells" means that one closely and correctly abandons that mind, and the meaning of completely abandoning harm close to it is closely transformed, and the meaning of the realms is this. Compassion and so forth should also be spoken of in the same way. The aspect of engaging without focus is that the great vehicle of the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, son of Shariputra, is emptiness, such as the inner.
