Place, what is to be abandoned, the means of abandonment, and the result of abandonment. Among these, there are three types of paths: the actual path, its companions, and close companions. Among these, the actual path is the means of practice with signs and the means of practice without signs, as taught in the Action Tantra, Performance Tantra, and Yoga Tantra. The Great Yoga speaks of the generation stage and the completion stage, which are the path itself. Companions are five: to pacify obstacles for oneself and others, perform the Torma ritual; to please the deities and pacify obstacles, perform the fire offering ritual; to experience accomplishments and especially honor the deities, perform the consecration ritual; to accumulate special merit, perform the Tsa-tsa ritual; to purify habitual patterns and empower, perform the vase ritual. Close companions are also five: the place of practice, auspicious times, a friend with qualities, substances in accordance with the scriptures, and livelihood items in accordance with the Dharma. Substances are of three types: offering substances, mantra substances, and story substances. Places are of two types: the place of entry and the place of focus. Among these, the place of entry corresponds to the Paramitas. The place of focus is of two types: those with signs, such as letters, and those without signs, which is to focus on the nature of emptiness in a way that is without focus. What is to be abandoned is of two types: negative thoughts and positive thoughts. The means of abandonment is to abandon negative thoughts with positive thoughts, and to abandon positive thoughts with non-thought. The result of abandonment is of two types: common and uncommon. Among these, the common are the supernormal cognitions, etc. The uncommon are of two types: ultimate, which is the three bodies; and non-ultimate, which is the accomplishment of Mahamudra, the arising of the path of seeing. Conduct is of two types: acting as a deity at times such as walking, and what is done at other times. Acting as a deity is to act as the supreme deity, or the three families, or the five families, or the Vajra Mother of Form, etc. What is done at other times is to bathe and prostrate, etc.

Circumambulation, circumambulating, offering mandalas, reciting the yidam, etc. should be done. Having explained it in detail like this, in order to make it even more extensive, the order of rituals, the order of meaning, the order of needs, the essence, the definition, the classification, etc. should be explained. Among them, first of all, those who have received empowerment etc. from the holy lama should strive to protect it and listen to the instructions. Then, in a pleasant place, in harmony with Dharma friends, or alone at a good time, one should abide, and also make tormas, erect tsatsas, perform fire pujas, and recite the yidam. Then, after bathing, make a mandala, scatter flowers, and meditate on the protective wheel. Then meditate on compassion. Wishing all sentient beings to be free from suffering. Then there is love, wishing all sentient beings to have happiness. Then there is joy, rejoicing that I have attained great enlightenment and will benefit sentient beings. Then there is equanimity, meditating without clinging to those three. Among them, compassion is like the root. Love is like the trunk. Joy is like the branches. The two accumulations are like the leaves. The other yogas are like flowers. The yogi's continuum is completely ripened like a fruit. Just as without a root there will be no trunk etc., without compassion there will be no love etc. Then one should prostrate to the deity and the incarnate lama, etc., this is the accumulation of merit. Then, through reciting the mantra of emptiness, one should realize the nature of emptiness, this is the accumulation of wisdom. Then, according to their respective texts, one should visualize oneself as the samaya being, visualize the samaya being in front, invite the wisdom being, etc., then make offerings and praises, and meditate with focus on the letter, or the hand symbol, or the body, or the bindu, or the subtle, or the gathering and dispersing, etc. If one becomes bored, one should recite with speech. If one becomes very bored, then after making offerings etc. with goddesses etc., one should request those who have been invited to depart. Those that have been visualized should be withdrawn. Or visualize oneself as the deity and the retinue.
