One should definitely rely on diligence, learning, generosity, discipline, and so on. Furthermore, in the Vajra Peak it says: "Having generated the mind of enlightenment, one should not believe in other gods. Killing, stealing, sexual misconduct, alcohol, and lying should be completely abandoned. Remaining in the state of a householder, one should accomplish the king of knowledge-mantras. If one is fully ordained, one should abide in the three vows: individual liberation, the mind of enlightenment, and the vidyādhara's own vows." It is said. Also, in the same text it says: "Without generating the mind of enlightenment, not listening to the precepts, having doubt, and lacking faith, one will not accomplish it." It is said. Furthermore, in the Māyājāla Tantra it says: "Steadfast, disciplined, possessing intelligence, patient, honest, without deceit, knowing the union of mantras and tantras, and fully understanding the ten suchnesses, skilled in the work of drawing mandalas, this is called a teacher. The secret mantras taught by him will be accomplished; there is no doubt about this." Therefore, if the student also has such qualities, or is slightly inferior, and makes a request, then one should teach, desiring the victory of liberation. Otherwise, both teacher and student will decline. It is said. Also, in the Black Yamāri Tantra it says: "Steadfast, disciplined, with a mind of compassion alone, possessing faith, enduring with superior intention, the student respects the guru, and with faith respects Yama, the lord of death, possessing asceticism and being fully ripened." It is said. Therefore, one should dispel all doubts about the meaning of practicing the scriptures and oral instructions as they are, and enter into them. Relying on the words as they are, because of acting arbitrarily, if one engages in killing and so on, even the fruit of higher realms will not arise, so what need is there to mention liberation? Therefore, those who wish to benefit themselves and others should not enter into the meaning of the scriptures merely with respect. Furthermore, the Bhagavan said in the Intentional Utterance: "Secret Lord, having obtained this great vehicle of vast meaning, if one grasps the meaning as it is, then one will fall into evil paths." Also, in the same text it says: "Whoever, with the mind arising from calm abiding, considers the aggregates and so on to be unreal,
