The su (neck of the vase) is sixteen fingers. The throat is four fingers. The mouth is six fingers. The lips are thick and two fingers. For all activities, the vases that describe peaceful and other activities should be taken. This is what is said in the Kalachakra. In other tantras, it is said that the vase should be without roots and stains, with drooping lips, a long neck, and a large belly, which should also be understood as sixteen fingers, etc. Here, Nagarjuna says: Gold or silver or copper, or made of clay, whatever vase is found, should be used by the best ascetic. Therefore, the vase with the characteristics described for gold etc. should be tilted, and from (བཾ་,vam, vam,വം,seed syllable) contemplate the essence of jewels, and for the purpose of pacifying and increasing, place fruit, or a skull cup, or draw the signs of the deities with white sandalwood paste, and decorate with five elixirs and fragrant water, jewels, medicines, and five grains, decorate the mouth with sprouts, tie a garland of flowers and a double cloth around the neck, and place them separately on top of the fragrant mandala in the order of placing the signs of the powder mandala that will be described below, on a cushion corresponding to oneself, in the form of a mandala in front. The ritual expert should place a white auspicious thread on the cloth. Nagarjuna said this, and for that mantra, with seven white threads recited seven times with (ཧཱུཾ་,hūṃ,hum,हुं,seed syllable), wrap with the mantra (ཨོཾ་བཛྲ་ཤི་ཁ་ར་རུ་ཊ་མ་ཊ་དི་ཤཾ་བནྡྷ་བནྡྷ་ཧཱུཾ་,oṃ vajra śikhara ruṭa maṭa diśaṃ bandha bandha hūṃ,oṃ vajra śikhara ruṭa maṭa diśaṃ bandha bandha hūṃ). In other tantras, it is said to use five colors corresponding to peaceful and other activities. The five jewels are pearl, gold, ruby, coral, and amber. If ruby is not found, silver, copper, or conch can be used instead. A gem can also be used in place of amber. If the financial condition is limited, then jewels should be the essence of the victorious and all-activity vases, but not for other vases. In particular, the victorious vase must have jewels as its essence. The medicines include Bṛhatī, Kaṇṭakarī, Daṇḍotpala white and red, and white Aparājitā. The five grains are sesame and barley.
