These are the four kinds of purity. Bodily purity is the three aspects of pure bodily actions. Mental purity is the three aspects of mental actions, such as being without covetousness. This shows abiding in the path of the ten virtuous actions. Respecting the Buddha is because he shows the good path and is of supreme benefit. Respecting the Dharma is because it enables one to attain perfect qualities such as nirvana. Alternatively, respecting the Buddha and Dharma is because of diligently practicing, as it is said, "Take the Buddha as your teacher, take the Dharma as your teacher," and so on. Thus, obtaining benefits and the like makes human life meaningful, therefore, by showing the faults of gain, one should abandon other gains such as wealth, and for the sake of saying this, it is said, "Desiring gain," and so on. Desiring gain should be understood as the cause of each and every loss of mindfulness and the like. Thus, because of desiring gain, the mind is distracted, and in mutual interactions, one will lose mindfulness and the like, and will also be far from enlightenment. The loss of mindfulness and the like is also the cause of completely abandoning gain in every respect. Or, desiring gain is solely the cause of losing mindfulness. That is also the cause of losing wisdom, similarly, it should be understood that the absence of the former is the cause of the absence of the latter, until being far from enlightenment is the cause of completely abandoning gain. Or, in another way, desiring gain is the cause of losing mindfulness. Those two are also the cause of losing wisdom, similarly, from above to above, what is produced by the five is the cause of being far from enlightenment. Since the root of all these countless faults is desiring gain, therefore one should completely abandon gain. Thus it is said. That is, what should be meditated upon, and what should be done, what is shown, should be explained. If one understands one meaning and knows all, what is the use of eight letters? If one knows the meaning of each letter, that is also too little. Whether it is a yogi or someone else, if one understands all by understanding the meaning of one letter, why are eight letters shown? However,

If one wishes to understand the meaning of each letter, then, since there are so many letters in the world beginning with the letter "A" (Tibetan: ཨ), it seems that saying "eight letters" is too few. Answer: There is no fault, it is as follows: The object to be taught, The teacher and the fault, The very nature is shown in three ways. The object to be taught is all dharmas, the teacher is the Sambhogakaya and Nirmanakaya, and the listener is the being to be tamed, which is divided into two types: children and the wise. The very nature of these is the non-inverted nature, and it is also shown in three ways from the cause. What is the cause? It is abandoning the three kinds of conceptual thoughts. The three kinds of conceptual thoughts are the conceptual thoughts about the object to be taught, the teacher, and the listener. If these are abandoned, then there is no realization of the recollection of the Buddha. What is the object to be taught? It is divided into two because of familiarity and unfamiliarity in this world. Why are the objects to be taught divided into two types? It is divided from the cause. What is the cause? It is to show that even the dharmas, dharanis, etc., that are accomplished with great diligence are without inherent existence, let alone other things like birth. The nature of the object to be taught is distinguished because it is pervasive. The object to be taught that is familiar in the world also has two types of differences: characteristics and basis, which are divided from the cause. What is the cause? It is to abandon the thought of how the nature of what has characteristics and is produced by causes does not exist. Mentioning Vipaka also indicates the master fruit, because it is the nature of ripening. The object to be taught that is familiar in the world also has two types of differences: the path and the non-path, which are divided from the cause. What is the cause? It is to make both dharmas abandon conceptual thoughts, to abandon the conceptual thoughts of how they do not exist. Furthermore, everything is made into one type, from the cause. What is the cause? It is to abandon conceptual thoughts about the object to be taught, etc. This is taught to benefit beings who like brevity. Also,
