These eight syllables are, the wise Bodhisattvas, the samadhis of these eight, the Tathagata declared are what are spoken of. Meditating on its meaning, they all tend towards manifestation. In order to obtain the dharani, one should diligently practice. These eight syllables are the samadhis of the eight Bodhisattvas, such as Vairochana and others who will appear below, the Blessed One declared in order that these samadhis are what are spoken of. Meditating on the meaning of these syllables' samadhi, all those Bodhisattvas will tend towards manifestation. From then on, having manifested, one strives to obtain the dharani. Just like this, the eight great Bodhisattvas who will appear below, in order to obtain the dharani, will manifest diligence. Therefore, these eight syllables are spoken, neither too few, nor too many because there is no need. The Bodhisattvas and the Buddhas and the Yakshas, this mandala arranged in order, is shown in a dream. A white lotus king, eight petals, pleasing. In its center, place the incomparable Sage, along with a vase. On the eight petals, place the sons of the Sage, the eight lords, such as Vairochana. Corresponding to the Sage and their own seed syllables. Between the petals, place the eight Yakshas, the ritual is the same. Another ritual is also the same, draw a square with five colors of powder. The yogi places the Sage in its center, on the eight-petaled white lotus, place a vase filled with water. Similarly, those sons of the Sage, also place a lotus seat and a water vase. In the four directions, place two each. Between the Bodhisattvas in each direction, place those Yakshas. The disciple who is pure, virtuous, and desires to accomplish the dharani practice of yoga, sits on a white cushion, and is empowered with those vases. Like this, the ritual shown in a dream, I have clearly explained, so that I can remember it well myself, without any arrogance. Like this, in general

Having summarized the nature of the eight verses, now I will explain the meaning of each. As for the ultimate truth, how all phenomena, emptiness and non-emptiness, are without inherent existence, this is shown by the first verse. By mentioning "etc.", it includes birth and non-birth, etc. Knowing these means by what will these phenomena enter into selflessness. Understanding these means to realize them directly. Therefore: In the ultimate truth, emptiness, And all phenomena such as non-emptiness, Knowing the absence of inherent existence, Is considered first for the sake of understanding. The meaning of the word "pa" is understanding, and it is first because it was spoken first. The phrase "showing this, for example" and so on, the word "for example" means to indicate the meaning. The meaning of the word "pa" is understanding, and the distinction should be transformed into "through understanding", why? Because the Buddha said: As for the ultimate truth, all phenomena such as emptiness and non-emptiness are selfless. Entering into it means realization, because it is through it that one enters. Understanding it means through understanding the entry into selflessness of all phenomena. The Sambhogakaya and Nirmanakaya are shown from the two bodies. These two accomplish all the benefits of the world. Because these two, the Sambhogakaya and Nirmanakaya, accomplish the perfect benefit of the world, the Bhagavan said they are the body of action, because there is action, for the sake of action, it is the body of action. In conventional truth and ultimate truth, through causes such as having characteristics and not having characteristics, knowing the two bodies, it is considered second for the sake of understanding. The word "la" is a synonym for "understanding". The nature of the body of activity, the Sambhogakaya and Nirmanakaya, is also, in conventional truth it has characteristics, in ultimate truth it is without characteristics. By mentioning "etc.", it includes what is mentioned in the sutras as "having excellent marks and not having excellent marks", this is also for the meaning of approximate representation, and it also includes non-emptiness and emptiness, etc. The meaning of the word "la" in "showing this" is understanding.
