O Secret Lord, when a Bodhisattva abides in the samadhi of no-characteristics, then all the secret mantras of the Tathagatas will manifest and incline towards him. Similarly, all the activities of the mandala, such as purifying the ground, should be done with the mind of Bodhicitta. As it is said in that very text: 'First, one should know the ground, what is spoken of is the ground of the mind. Purification is first the establishment of the base, by which it is completely purified. When is it free from faults, with a fearless mind? That time it is pure, all faults are completely abandoned. Because one has directly seen enlightenment, therefore one should know the establishment of the base in this way. Other than that, purifying the ground, that will not become pure. If a mantra practitioner abides in conceptualization, and performs the purification of the ground, because he has abandoned the mind of enlightenment, O Secret Lord, that is not good. Therefore, having abandoned all conceptualizations, one should completely purify all the ground. I have explained the rituals of all the mandalas in detail, first establishing the base, which the ignorant do not understand. Conceptualization is the cause of suffering, as long as it is not abandoned, one will not become a Buddha in this world, nor will one be called all-knowing. One should diligently purify the disciples with the mind of enlightenment.' Thus it is said. Again, in that very text it is said: 'O Secret Lord, furthermore, a Bodhisattva, through the door of secret mantras, practices the conduct of a Bodhisattva, with the mind of Bodhicitta, abiding on the ground of the Tathagatas, thereby drawing the mandala. Otherwise, one will deceive the Buddha, Bodhisattvas, and enlightenment. Transgressing the vows will definitely lead to falling into the lower realms.' Thus it is said. Therefore, this inner, non-elaborate mandala is the outer mandala that is first diligently taught. The subsequent words such as "again" are easy to understand. The so-called "Kunga" and so on, refer to establishing the base in the brief explanation of the ground, the detailed content is as previously stated. After that, further explanation will be given. If one can see it as it is, it is a virtuous ground, and proclaiming the non-virtuous ground, that is the characteristic of the part of the ground. Uneven, full of thorns, fighting with skulls,

Or a place. Reincarnation and anthills above the ashes, Sand, dust and sound, As well as a mixture of grains and insects. Such land, the wise, For all activities are completely avoided. Even, very clean and soft, Avoiding all deep-seated defects, In the northeast direction of the east, Such land is praised by all. First dig a little with your knee, Fill it with that very earth. If that land is left over, Then it will become the foundation of accomplishment. If the opposite of this, the practitioner, Should not start work, If started, suffering will be obtained, And will not become powerful either. Many good people, Wherever the mandala land is, Praise it and accomplish it, The wise condemn the place without water. Water and various trees, As well as leaves, flowers, fruits, And all the milky trees, That is praised as the mandala land. Land endowed with all qualities, Good and with trees, And near the water, The mandala work is there. The land for pacifying activities, Is completely considered white. Red and yellow mean increase, Black means manifestation. The banks of the Ganges and lotus groves, It can also be near a large river. In meadows and pleasant places, The peaceful mandala should be drawn. The place of the Mamos or the cemetery, No people and empty houses, And whatever is not desired to be manifested, In those places manifest. The top of the mountain without a peak. Temples and stupas, along with houses with urns. In places like this, The king's mandala should be drawn. Large stupas and pleasant places, As well as completely secluded houses, Very vast on the tops of mountains, In order to accomplish, draw the mandala. Mountains and islands, cities, As well as unheard of and deep caves. Desiring the door of glory, Draw the Vajra Mandala underground. Forests where aquatic plants flourish, A flock of swans making sounds, If you desire kingship or wealth, Draw the mandala of all prosperity. The place of the Mamos and deities, Or the house of the gods is also fine, Grasp and subdue with the Vajra hook, The destroying mandala should be drawn. The crossroads of the great road, stupas, And the eyes of Vajrapani.
