Secondly, those eleven places of downfall are completely different from them, as briefly explained in the 'Definite Interpretation of Intentions.' More extensively, it is to be understood by establishing the state of the ten bhūmis. Because those ten bhūmis possess a dominant position, they are called 'Protector, Lord of the Ten Bhūmis.' Because they abide in those very states in the manner of bodhisattvas, they are called 'Abiding on the Ten Bhūmis.' Now, in order to demonstrate the nature of the ten knowledges, ten truths, ten powers, and ten freedoms, the following one and a half verses are spoken: 'Ten knowledges, pure, possessing self-nature, Holders of ten pure knowledges, The ten aspects are the meaning of ten meanings, Sage, lord of the ten powers, pervasive lord. Accomplishing the meaning of all beings without exception, Ten freedoms, the great ones.' Among these, the ten knowledges are as follows: knowing suffering, knowing the origin, knowing cessation, knowing the path, knowing exhaustion, knowing non-arising, knowing the Dharma, knowing subsequent realization, knowing conventional truth, knowing familiarity, and knowing what is exactly as it is. Among these, what is knowing suffering? Knowing that suffering does not arise. Among these, what is knowing the origin? Knowing that the origin should be abandoned. Among these, what is knowing cessation? Knowing the cessation of suffering. Among these, what is knowing the path? Knowing the eightfold noble path. Among these, what is knowing exhaustion? Knowing the exhaustion of desire, hatred, and delusion. Among these, what is knowing non-arising? Knowing that the continuum of existence does not arise. Among these, what is knowing the Dharma? Fully realizing and knowing the five aggregates as illusion. Among these, what is knowing subsequent realization? Knowing that the sense bases, elements, and dependent arising are impermanent. Among these, what is knowing conventional truth? Knowing the minds of other sentient beings and other individuals with the mind. Among these, what is knowing familiarity? Knowing the path and complete purification. Among these, what is knowing what is exactly as it is? It is the wisdom of the Tathāgata's omniscience, which is also in the manner of non-objectification. Thus, the nature of these ten knowledges is the ten knowledges.
