Transformation is attained. By means of the perfection of power, one is not overwhelmed by all afflictions, demons, and adversaries, and attains eminence over all the worlds. By means of the perfection of wisdom, one attains complete liberation from the aggregates, the Lord of Death, afflictions, and the demon of the son of the gods. Furthermore, a son of good family, a Bodhisattva, is also a speaker of praise for generosity, but does not think that generosity is speech. Similarly, he speaks praise for morality, patience, diligence, meditation, wisdom, skillful means, aspiration, power, and wisdom, but does not think that wisdom is speech. Why is that? Because all these dharmas should be abandoned after being truly practiced. All these arise from complete examination. Therefore, whatever is completely examined and the dharmas that arise from complete examination should be abandoned. Therefore, a Bodhisattva does not think that complete examination and the dharmas that arise from complete examination are speech, but rather, having attained the wisdom of the non-conceptual, non-elaborate realm, he awakens to perfect complete enlightenment. Such purity of the perfections should be extensively understood from the Sutra of the Collection of True Dharmas. Having oneself attained the ten perfections and causing others to abide in the ten perfections, one has attained the ten perfections. Whatever is particularly attained and realized is the attainment of the ten perfections. The reason why the word "attainment" does not precede "perfection" is because of impermanence. Abiding in that, and causing others to perfect the ten perfections, it is called "abiding in the ten perfections." The purity of the ten perfections is because it has become the nature of purity as it has been spoken. That which guides and shows the two truths, conventional and ultimate, is the way of the ten perfections. Or, that which possesses the doctrine of the way of the ten perfections is the way of the ten perfections. The protector is the lord of the ten, the one who abides on the ten grounds. That is to say, the first ground is like a great meaning.

Because of attaining the basis of mind that is unpolluted and transcends the world, and because of the vast joy and supreme joy, it is called the Extremely Joyful Ground. The second ground is called the Stainless Ground because it is free from all the stains of subtle downfalls and immoral discipline. The third ground is called the Luminous Ground because it is the abode of immeasurable appearances of samadhi, dharani of hearing, and definite wisdom. The fourth ground is called the Radiant Ground because the practice of the dharma that accords with the aspects of enlightenment burns the firewood of afflictions, and the light of the fire of wisdom radiates. The fifth ground is the dharma that accords with the aspects of enlightenment. Because it is difficult to master the meditation of attaining those dharmas, it is called the Very Difficult to Subdue Ground. The sixth ground is called the Manifest Ground because the activity of conditioned phenomena is manifest, and the contemplation of the signless is repeatedly manifest. The seventh ground is called the Far-Going Ground because the contemplation of the signless is uninterrupted and continuous, and because it is connected with the pure ground. The eighth ground is called the Immovable Ground because the signless is spontaneously accomplished, and because it is not moved by the arising of the afflictions of signs. The ninth ground is called the Good Intelligence Ground because one attains unobstructed and extremely vast wisdom in the power of teaching the Dharma in all ways. The tenth ground is called the Cloud of Dharma Ground because the body of cyclic existence is like the sky, and the Dharmakaya covers and pervades it like a great cloud. The eleventh ground is called the Buddha Ground because one has abandoned afflictions and extremely subtle obscurations, and without attachment or obstruction, one has completely awakened to all aspects of knowable things. World Honored One, how many obscurations are there in those? How many unfavorable aspects of cyclic existence are there? The World Honored One said: Avalokiteshvara, there are twenty-two obscurations and eleven unfavorable aspects of cyclic existence. The first ground is attachment to persons and phenomena.
