Because it is the place of arising, it arises from that place. A (Tibetan: ཨ, Devanagari: अ, Romanized Sanskrit: a, Literal Chinese meaning: A) is the door of non-arising from the very beginning of all dharmas, therefore it is unborn. By the very nature of being unborn, it abandons speech. Because it is the cause of all speech and the main cause of sound, it is the most excellent cause of all speech. Because it is the cause of the complete entry of all words, it is all words. Because it possesses the exceedingly good light of the nature of mantra, it illuminates completely. Regarding what is called great offering and so on, whatever possesses great offering is the great offering, and for all sounds of great offering, this meaning should be understood in the same way. Possessing great compassion, because it is the cause of generating joy in beings such as listening to the sacred Dharma, it is great desire. Because it becomes the enemy of hatred for all the great enemies of afflictions, it is great hatred. Whatever mind is covered by the darkness of ignorance is the mind of delusion, because it is the cause of completely uprooting the delusion that exists in the continuum of beings, it is great delusion, just as a mantra for dispelling epidemics is called a mantra of epidemics. For those who have generated great anger, such as demons, with the weapon of patience, it becomes the cause of their complete destruction, so it is great anger. Therefore, it becomes the enemy of anger, so it is the great enemy of great anger. Because it is the cause of eliminating all attachment arising from the manifestation of clinging to self and what belongs to self, it is great attachment. Whatever desire there is to establish beings in the greatness of the Buddha himself is great desire. Because it bestows the bliss of liberation upon beings, it is great bliss. By showing the profound Dharma, it is the great joy of beings. Because it shows miracles, it creates satisfaction in the minds of those to be tamed, so it is great satisfaction. By being without anger, it satisfies all beings, so it is the great form. Because it has transcended the human body, it is the great body. Because it shows various forms and colors, it is the great color. Because it possesses splendor, it is the great body mass. Because it possesses the most excellent name, the name is also great. Dharma and wealth, etc.
